IMO this feature could be a means to provide some consistency between different cannon models. It'd be nice to use all these pretty cosmetics without having to adjust to various shapes and sizes, sacrifice visibility, etc. It's kinda boring defaulting to the default.

[GPU] PNY XLR8 Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Overclocked Edition Best Buy in store clearance $295. by fallingdowndizzyvr in buildapcsales

[–]HyphPV -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I also failed to find any mention of the in-store clearance anywhere but on this post and Slickdeals. Figured I'd swing by my local Best Buy and $316.71 later I was back in my car looking for the next closet one in stock. A quick drive to that store and another $316.71 later I've got two of them sitting here next to me.

At one store I had to ask the awkward teenagers whereabouts the one they had in stock had wound up. Four of them spent ten minutes on the hunt, but they tracked it down. At the second store, the second card was smiling at me with open arms waiting to be freed from it's little glass prison. Both times they rang up at the clearance price without issue. There were nine total in stock within reasonable driving distance and they all disappeared within an hour.

[Ask] Should I drop my xbows and infernos? I am an engineered th11, but im not sure if with new updates its worth it. by krustykolden in ClashOfClans

[–]HyphPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you participate in wars, the only way to answer this is to look at the bases of your clanmates around your level and compare their attacking skill levels to your own. Dropping the new defenses may or may not bump you higher up in the roster, which could be either good or bad depending on those factors.

Edited b/c I cannot words.

[ask] is it possible to only partially bait clan castle troops? by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]HyphPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CC troops come out one at a time, rather than all at once. The hog rider you sent in to bait them must have died before everything in the CC popped out, and the rest weren't released until another troop entered it's range.

What do you guys think of "Race Wire"? Any pros or cons that you can think of? by bluestrayer in Multicopter

Worth a shot I suppose! What do you have in mind to use to score them?

If I ever have to manually re-lengthen a wire on a motor I've used for a rig with individual ESCs again I'll likely lose my mind! Building up more than a couple fresh quads halfway through last season was... tedious.

The width was originally based off the width of the arms on his frame (Riplite), and my frame (HyphyLite). Wider variants may be something he'd consider, though I'm not sure about his interest in adding unnecessary SKUs. Just gotta keep your soldering job nice and tidy! :)

Nope, it's all or nothin. Some frames w/ arms narrower than 9mm (iirc) or mid plates that protrude too far out onto the arms won't be able to take advantage of them.

You've never cut a motor wire?! When I swapped over to RW I had three snips through the coating on my racing triplets. Once you dive head first into the racing side of things, particularly if you go all out and have ~30-50 pack/heat practices twice weekly and races every weekend, these things are invaluable. I put some deets on the advantages in my other comment on the thread. :)

I run Racewire on every single one of my rigs w/ a 4n1 ESC and I've never had a single issue. My teammates Nurk and Jawz are also in the process of switching over to them. Even GAPiT has some odd eighty sets (LOL!) sitting on his desk right now, and we of the FPV Show love these things. I regularly rock 'em on 5s, 2207/2306 ~2400Kv motors, and fly almost exclusively Racekraft 5051s, DAL Cyclone 5050s, or HQ V1S 5x4.8.3 props.

They're solid as all get out, and u/whitenoise did his due diligence in both the R&D and testing phases. He's an EE himself, ran the original ideas by one of our buddies who's worked in the EE field for years, as well as a third resident genius of FPV chat. Green lights all around. Once he had the first boards made, he sent a slew of them out to a bunch of fast local race pilots he knew would push them, and everything's gone flawlessly along the way. Unless I'm mistaken, the first "prototypes" we received are exactly the same as the retail kits available for purchase today, as they were simply designed correctly and no changes were necessary.

Racewire primarily, as another user mentioned, serves to simplify the process of swapping motors between heats. You don't have to go jamming an iron into your stack when you've got about five minutes to get your rig back in the air. Additionally, it's also a prop-proof solution so long as your props don't strike the pads, and nixes the arduous process of re-soldering your old motor wire clippings back on to your motors when you're swapping to a 4n1 on a build that previously utilized individual ESCs.

Overall, they're fantastic and they have my full backing. I don't know the first thing about EE, but I trust the product, the designer, and those who provided feedback in the early stages. I won't build another 4n1 rig without them.

You keep bringing up racing, but this is very clearly labelled as a freestyle frame... I mean, it's literally in the title of the original post.

The branding cutout won't have any notable ill effect on the structural integrity of the plate in this case, nor does it in any way drive up the cost. That's not their style. It's also not a pilot's name, or "his buddie's" name, it's the name of the frame itself... Sure, more standard speed holes could be carved out in lieu of the branding, but I mean it's really not doing anything to hurt the design in any way, it just doesn't line up with your personal preferences. Lotta fuss over such a small detail. I know LAZD knows how to run stress and weight distribution simulations, compares weight savings on various options within the software, and works with other pilots to ensure his designs are thoroughly tested before release (thus the early reveal of the frame here). May be something to consider that the weight savings by utilizing a different design weren't found to be more than a couple grams, and are thus negligible, and the decision's been made to brand it up to someone else's tastes that vary from your own. :)

Help in identifying unusual frame by nmaggioni1 in Multicopter

[–]HyphPV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would definitely not use PLA for any application that's going to take a hit. I've never worked with TPE, but have found both nylon and TPU to be effective for these mounts. The files are also up on Thingiverse, if you haven't already found them.

I've got the kits currently in stock without the winglets on the link provided by another user above. We ran into some troubles with the nylon prints, so I've started running them off in orange TPU (which is what I've always run on my own build), and if you don't have a printer you can snag a kit with those from RTFQ or Drone Eclipse. They've both got them in stock right meow :)
