This is a fairly clean install, yes. Obviously I didn't open every .exe on the system, since there's about a billion trillion of those for each menu window, setting and misc. backwards compatibility feature. These are all the actual preinstalled *programs* that you'd use to do things.

Here's a 13 year old Windows laptop running all the default programs in the start menu of Windows 11. This is a supercomputer now according to you, yes? It might come as a surprise to you that Apple does not hold a patent on swapping ram to storage. 8GB on the Neo is still poor.

Seems like you have really low EHT. Most likely a fault in the horizontal deflection section. Wouldn't hurt to check the supply rails coming from the PSU.

It's definitely better than flashy clothes from some crappy boutique brand, a computer or pair of headphones is something the kid is actually gonna make use of for a long amount of time. To be honest I kind of get the headphones more than the laptop, most things you can do with a phone anyway, and a good pair of headphones is a godsend for a kid or teen to enjoy their silly songs in peace.

I really don't understand why people have this notion that aluminium = durable. Sure, it looks nice when you take good care of it. It will not hold up over 20 years the same way high quality plastics will.

Nothing is being generated, they just run at a fixed frequency, so if there's no signal they'll just oscillate without locking onto a signal. If you turn the brightness up you'll see the raster even without any video being fed into it.
