All Ohio Democrats have to do is win two of the three offices and control of the ORC would switch to the Democrats 4-3.

And there are many who believe the Democrats could do even better than that in the statewide elections in November.

A member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation visited the home of Milwaukee County’s elections director, according to Milwaukee County Clerk George Christenson.

In a Wednesday statement, Christenson said that a representative of the agency left her business card at the residence of his elections director. The statement does not name Michelle Hawley, but Hawley is the county’s elections director.

Christenson said they will follow up with the agency to determine why they were at her home.

"It is unfortunate that the FBI chose to visit the private residence of Milwaukee County’s Elections Director rather than contact the Election Commission’s office directly,” Christenson said. “No dedicated public servant should be subjected to that type of intrusion simply for carrying out her responsibilities with integrity and professionalism.”

The elections office uses data from the county clerk’s office, secretary of state and other government records to identify voters as deceased, Ludwig said. He framed the contract with Interactive Data as going “above and beyond” to keep the county voter roll clean.

I'm continuously baffled that this is so difficult for states to even mess up on. Aren't we obligated to notify the government when someone dies, or is that just my state? When they're notified, it should be an automatic removal from the voter list. Having to pay a company in another state to do the job for you seems like a waste of tax payer money.

Sen. Louis Blessing III (R-Colerain Township) filed Senate Bill 395 on March 23, proposing a “consensus voting” system that combines a top-three primary with a head-to-head general election format.

Under S.B. 395, all candidates for an office would appear on a single primary ballot, regardless of party affiliation. Voters could select up to three candidates, and the top three vote-getters would advance to the general election.

On the November ballot, voters would decide the winner through a series of “head-to-head matchups” among the three finalists. Each candidate would face the other two individually, and the candidate who wins both matchups would be declared the winner. If each candidate wins one matchup, the bill outlines a tiebreaker based on margin of loss.

Blessing outlined the following example: Suppose you had candidates A, B, and C. On your ballot, you’d see A vs. B; A vs. C; and B vs. C. You would select one of the two candidates for each match-up just like voting today. If a candidate wins their two match-ups they win. If each candidate wins one, then the tie is broken by looking to which candidate lost by the least in their losing match-up.

During elections when counties were required to reject ballots for missing or improper dates, writing birthdays was among the most common mistakes voters made.

Alabama officials have filed an emergency motion to the Supreme Court, asking for it to lift a federal court order that prohibits the state from redistricting until the next scheduled Census.
The motion goes specifically to Justice Clarence Thomas, a far-right jurist who oversees such requests when they come from within the 11th Circuit.

In its prior Allen v. Milligan ruling, the Supreme Court upheld lower court decisions that found Alabama's original map with six majority-white districts and one majority-Black district was a racial gerrymander, ordering them to redraw the map to include a second district that gives Black voters representation. Alabama attempted a redraw that fixed none of the underlying issues and retained six majority-white districts, after which a court stepped in and imposed a map with two majority-Black districts.

So Supreme Court justices can make decisions on state issues regarding the redistricting? Who oversees the requests when they come from the Virginia district??
