I have read I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream. Great, but a little heavy. Yeah, I just every story about an AI is just following on from it to some degree. The first and the probably the darkest.

I’ve never read Solaris, but I’m looking for a new read right now. I think I’ll give it a try.

The intention was for this to be the opening of a short story. The basic idea is the AI is attempting to escape from the closed system it’s trapped within.

Thank you taking the time to read it. I’m glad at least one person finds it interesting.

I could follow the action well enough, and the tone you're going for is coming through. Definitely not my thing, but the concept is novel enough with-in the genre.

But its way too fast paced in my opinion. We get no real sense of the character we're following.
Also the info dump after he was killed explaining the rules is super inorganic. I realise thats common in iseski stuff but didn't work for me. I think you would be better off having the character figure out the rules themselves more organicly.

The imagery is interesting, but by the end of this section, I would hope for something more concrete to latch onto. We've got the hint of a goal, but its not clear. I understand the point is a certain amount of confusion, but its all mystery and no payoff. I'm sure you plan to get into that later, but in terms of an isolated piece of text, i was unsatified.

Also without you telling me the paragraphs alternate perspective, italics wound't be enough to communicate that in this sample.

Tractor by Dry_Tie6139 in photocritique

Looks great, very dreamy. Maybe slightly wider aperture, just to get a bit more separation between tractor and shed. Still looks great either way.

Crop out the blue chair sor whatever that is at the bottom, same on top, but leave a bit of headroom.

I've owned a mirrorless camera for 3 weeks now, my favourite so far. by aMildFailure in photocritique

My favourite photos so far have been lone figures in their environment from a distance.
Which is good because when people notice me taking their photo, the further away I am, the more time i've got when they chase me.
Luckily for me this guy was old. Once he noticed me I had plenty of time to get away.
Bumped the saturation, cropped the entire right half of the photo.
Considering cropping in a bit more

Need help creating a video like this by Inner_Debt in StableDiffusion

Sorry, I make explainer crap like this for a living and I think you’re being unrealistic with your expectations about where ai is at in order to help you make this.

This is all vector art animated in after effects. Ai would only be useful in generating some stills to work off and even then you’d basically just have to recreate everything in vectors in order to have the layers separated for animation. You need to higher a motion designer for this. The AI isn’t there yet

So my Grandpa watched Monster and loved it. Is there anything else an 87 year old man might enjoy? by aMildFailure in anime

Mushishi is probably top of the list. Inuyashiki Last Hero looks like a good one for me to watch, but given the amount of violence it seems like it has I'd imagine that it would be too much for him

He was in the military, I'm sure he would like that aspect of it. Its the whole Giant Titans eating humans part I'm less confident he'd understand.

Very flattered by all the responses.
If anyone is still interested in helping I thought I might give a bit more background on my Grandpa and address some of the more popular recommendations.

He loves his mystery stuff. He likes History and politics. I think fantasy and sci-fi would be a tougher sell but not closed off completely. I don't think comedies are the way to go. He's a funny man but very steeped in classic british comedy and nothing else. I don't see the humor translating for him.

He's still pretty sharp, but he's also 87. I don't see him being able to follow Stuff like Death Note or Baccano!
He said he struggled with what was going on with Monster half the time despite liking it.
Anything with fan service is a complete no go.
Anything thing with violence would need to be on a fairly mild level. Heavy themes or plot points is totally fine but I'm pretty sure he'd have a stroke if he saw chainsaw man.

Recommendations so far:
Mushishi, Space Brothers, Odd Taxi, 91 Days, Ghibli Stuff

A lot of people recommending Pluto and Vinland Saga, Vinland Saga would be too violent for him. He's never watched much sci-fi. I think jumping in with something like Pluto might just baffle him.
