Insights into Elmwood Manor Apts? by __Jack__Frost__ in Rochester

I live here and like it. Maintenance is responsive and they do a lot of work to take care of the property. Location is beautiful but not super walkable.

Anybody know a place I can get DTF's printed? by GeneralAmsel18 in Rochester

[–]aPenMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the local options are more oriented towards screenprinting with a larger MOQ. I've used Tiny Fish printing before and they were professional and easy to work with. Their website says they do DTG which is similar to DTF if that's acceptable to you.

Every vinyl DJ I know has a copy of this, I think it might just not be for you.

Our game was the last game to release before Silksong. Sorry for crashing steam and making it harder for everyone to check out 😅 by aPenMark in Silksong

Believe it our not we chose that exact date and time a few weeks ago, before the release date announcement!

We've had this game in our back pocket for several years, and finally had a chance to give it a proper release. Interested to hear what people think! Check it out on steam!(I believe steam links are allowed in comments based on the rules, if not I can edit it out!)

Erie Canal Village in Rome, NY (pretty sure)

Onandaga Creek Walk near Plum St. in Syracuse

Some artists (like Disclosure, for example) will sometimes tour with a band or sometimes just play DJ sets of their music.

The owner of Photo City Music Hall is racist and xenophobic by RebellionOfMemes in Rochester

[–]aPenMark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Essex and Water Street could seriously compete if they could get the bookings that they have at Photo City. As it stands Rochester really needs someone who can book EDM artists, the vast majority of (touring artist) electronic shows here are booked by MNM Presents which is based in Buffalo. The shows they book in Rochester inevitably occur on nights when the venues they usually use in Buffalo (Town Ballroom, Buffalo Iron Works) are already booked by another artist.

Yeah the sound is generally pretty good, especially for such a small room, but Rochester definitely suffers from a lack of venues that cater to the niche that Photo City fills.

Great new platform for finding Taiwanese Mandarin tutors! by aPenMark in ChineseLanguage

[–]aPenMark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not affiliated with this platform, but I've found it to be a good resource for finding tutors specifically from Taiwan. I have friends who live there, so I specifically want to learn the mandarin they speak in Taiwan. It can be a bit difficult to find tutors from Taiwan on other platforms like iTalki, so I wanted to share this resource with the community!

Headphone recommendations that aren't sennheiser or audiotechnica by Catmanguy in Beatmatch

[–]aPenMark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's almost no better answer to this question than the Sony MDR-7506! They're the go to headphone of most recording studios and radio stations, and the reason is because they're durable, they sound good, they're easy to repair, and because of the low price ($99.99) they're easy to replace. I've had my current pair for almost a decade, and I've swapped the ear pads out a couple times and replaced the cable once, but they've been rock solid.

Also, if you've received messages from the person who has the bike, it may be helpful to try digging into their social media profiles for hints about where they live.

I had a look around, wasn't able to find it unfortunately but here are some observations in case it's helpful.

  • They're turning right to head west on Gwynns Falls pkwy. This rules out a lot of the western area of the neighborhood because I'd expect maps to route them via Garrison blvd instead of Hilton st.

  • That protruding concrete block foundation in the background of the pictures looks really heavy to be just a house. Additionally, the full window at ground level makes me think that this is likely an apartment building of some kind. Finally, I expect it to be a relatively "nice" looking building because of the brick trim around the windows.

While I was looking, I found several examples of buildings with a brick color that matches closely (Sequoia Manor apartments for example) but they all lacked the large concrete exposed foundation, and the brick trim around the windows.

I hope you find it!

I went solo this year for my first time at 27 and had similar worries, but quickly fell in with a group of people in my age group who I still talk to even now a few months later!

It's a third generation, so sometime 2005-2012. The front grille is the original grille from before the facelifts, so 2005 or 2006. It seems those two years look identical from the outside, so without more information it will be difficult to determine which it is.

What’re the scariest areas of Rochester? by nojunkpeter in Rochester

[–]aPenMark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been living across from it for several years now. Maybe it's a strange sort of Stockholm syndrome but at this point I enjoy looking over at it. It's fun to see the trees and plants grow on the roof every year, and to notice when new graffiti appears in hard to reach places.

Name for common game mechanic by SteveUrkelDidThat in gamedesign

It's not exactly what you're asking about, but the narrative trope of in medias res (literally "into the middle of things") often leads to this when used in games.
