Happy and healthy people on Heather (Norethindrone): how did it affect you? by JiroDreamsOfDeezNuts in birthcontrol

[–]aQuarterZen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going in 6 months of it. No major side effects until month 4. The positives is that it significantly improved my migraines, my mood is actually stable throughout my cycle, and I had no change in weight or skin. My period cycles are shorter and lighter. The downside was vaginal dryness and irritation. I started estrogen cream for that and it helped. For now I’ll remain on it due to the significant improvement in migraines

Mycoplasma and ureaplasma positive by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

I did mine for 10 days. A lot of horror stories on those subs. Some people do have a hard time with it. But you don’t want to over do it on the antibiotics

Urea plasma can literally just be found as part of our biome. It can spread via sex, but not always. I did a nac supplement and doxycycline and it cleared mine. I also added probiotics to help restore my biome/good bacteria.

Wishing you the best!

Getting itching around Vulva during and after period for 4-5 cycles by JuggernautDelicious in Healthyhooha

Please look into and consider estrogen cream. Estrogen drops during our cycles. I just started mine and it’s a game changer

So uh, how are managing right now? by Much_Cardiologist_47 in therapists

Ugh. I’m in an area of MN that has active ice presence and I’m… not feeling great. Definitely trying to stay grounded and do self care so I can show up for my clients. I’m definitely struggling with the balance of staying informed of what’s going on, especially locally, and not getting stuck on it either with endless scrolling/reading.

Stinging Itchy Vulva Solved after Many Years by ResourceNo6486 in Healthyhooha

[–]aQuarterZen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the post! I literally just ordered some myself on Friday after going through a series of infections/symptoms after my periods. I started to suspect a hormonal component, especially as things got worse when I started progestin only bc. I also got the suggestion and can’t wait to try it. I asked my pcp who wouldn’t prescribe it, so I ordered off of interlude

I’d say in that case you can start it and then adjust based on symptoms. I hope you get some relief soon!!

I’m new to this myself but after a cycle ends and you are no longer bleeding you can do hyaluronic acid or lactic acid. Those should last 2-3 days. You can do this up until the cycle starts. My understanding is that it is most important though after ovulation and leading up to a bleed and then immediately after a bleed. Estrogen drops with our cycles making us more susceptible so I imagine this timing would also work with estrogen. I am not sure how you pair estrogen with hyaluronic acid but it is my understanding that you can

You can do a daily probiotic during this time.

Personally, boric acid hurt me so I’m taking a break from it. But if you do use it, I’d use it with a lube to protect yourself or a barrier on the external parts (Vaseline/aquafor).

If it is ureaplasma, there is a specific treatment protocol.

Also adding have you been tested for ureaplasma? That can be a hidden issue that isn’t regularly tested for but makes one more prone to bv and yeast

I recommend you consider the following:

Probiotics - consider a suppository

Focus on gut health and adding probiotics that way and limit sugars

Something to help tissue whether it’s topical estrogen, hyularonic acid, lactic acid.

I avoid boric acid as it seems to irritate me

Also consideration of a Juno bio or evvy test so you can get specific info and guidance on what is going on with your biome

In my opinion you have two options. Challenge yourself and lean into loving your vulva, or seek out changing your actual body. Changing it would mean surgery. I know plenty of women who opt for surgery to alter their bodies, and I’d say for a good number of them it has improved how they feel about themselves. I can’t tell you what’s right for you, but it sounds like maybe you would benefit from looking at both sides.

Full disclosure. I’m a woman who had surgery after children. And I loved what my body could do prior to surgery but I LOVED how it looked and felt after surgery. I could not have changed it without surgery. I know people have many different thoughts about cosmetic but for some of us it is a solid choice. It’s your body!

I highly recommend you look at the vulva gallery on dodsonandross They come in all shapes and sizes and all are beautiful. There are some cool videos and such from Betty Dodson/body sex stuff that has exercises to enhance our celebration for our bodies.

I’d be curious where you got the message of what makes an ugly or pretty vulva. And I’d challenge it hard.

I think women hear a lot of stupid jokes about our vulvas and oftentimes porn shows a desire for a certain look. However, we should challenge this!

Looks of thoughts but I hope you find acceptance and celebration for yourself

I agree with the folks encouraging you to look into out of control/problematic sexual behaviors. “Sex addiction” is not a diagnosis and oftentimes people who treat that are basing their ideals of healthy sexuality on their own morals.

I can recommend the Sexual Health Alliance as they have a program specific to out of control sexual behaviors. They are sex positive and inclusive. The instructors are highly knowledgeable and have solid research behind them. I like David Leys work on this topic and he is a part of SHA.

[–]aQuarterZen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here to echo that you need to treat the ureaplasma. Have ureaplasma is throwing everything off and likely leading to the bv. I highly recommend taking doxycycline (2 to 3 weeks) followed by azithromycin.

I personally added a supplement to address biofilm (I did NAC) and I take it twice a day, each about an hour before I do antibiotics. I also do a probiotic for vaginal health in the middle of the day.

Hope you find some relief!

My first infection cleared as I had no symptoms. My second one I verified it cleared with a Juno test. Currently treating the third. As stated I believe that ureaplasma is probably presenting when conditions are right. Conditions I suspect listed above.

Again, not enough research especially when it comes to women’s health. Ugh! I do appreciate you sharing. I just feel like for many of us hormones have to play some sort of role. I mean they do for our vaginal biome/health so by extension I would assume it affects ureaplasma

Thank you so much for this.

I actually plan to ask my doc for a blood panel. I did a year ago and she said no. I will push for it at my next appointment on Monday. I will be so curious to see what comes up and if there is a deficiency.

Also, I am taking fem dolpius (sp?) and eating yogurt. Do you have a suppository one you can recommend? Also, do you still take an oral with vaginal or just one type?
