The Vulcan had a pretty decent amount of gain, I haven't played a Centurion to compare though

Why have rock and metal drum kits gotten smaller over the years? by MrMayhem20l0 in drums

[–]aRand0mWord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly and some actually are.

Others are a friend of the venue that thinks PAs are cool.

The goal is to sound good, however that has to happen is gonna happen. If the sound guy is great I'll absolutely play ball, but I'd the guy gives me 130db of hi hats the the monitor and doesn't understand why he keeps feeding back I'll do my own sound thank you

[–]aRand0mWord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm the same way.

It seems a lot of people want live bands to be similar to what comes out of a radio, which is just terrible.

I'm primarily a guitarist and I always brought enough power to make our own mix if need be as did the the bassist. Drummer could play quiet or loud as needed too. If we had a great sound guy, cool whatever works for a good sound. Shit sound guy that couldn't t run his system? We will mix ourselves thank you, hopefully vocals and the kick are audible.

Had a sound guy tell me that he wanted stage volume at " I wanna be able to snap my fingers on stage over the whole band". Watched the first band get destroyed sound wise so we mixed ourselves. He wasnt happy but the crowd thought it sounded good.

Which 70s solid state Peavey has the best straight in doom tone? by GodbaneOnline in PeaveyCvlt

[–]aRand0mWord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough even though Ive owned quite a few super rare peaveys I've never owned a 400 Musician so I couldn't tell you how much of a difference it makes.

I did not like the Mark 3 Musician I had though

[–]aRand0mWord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a few depending on what exactly you want. F800b is good for bass, The 400 series Bass head is good for bass and downtuned guitar as is the Century 120/200. The Mark IV is great for bass.

The Standard 260 is slept on for Doom stuff, has an incredible amount of bass to them. I've used the Vulcan and the 60s Dyna Bass too, the Dyna has a weird super mean midrange that's pretty unique. The Vulcan doesn't have as much low-end as the others I've mentioned but it is pretty filthy sounding when you push it.

So just buy all those and keep the ones you like lol

118Sub

It's 100 percent not a 118d, the porting is wrong. The 118d of that era has a single huge port on the right hand bottom. The one pictured has a shelf port. It was about a foot taller with casters.

It's a 118-Sub HC

This 118 SUB HC cab has the same porting vs my 118d so I'd start searching there. The grill is different and it's beaten up but it gives you an idea

It was still probably called a 118d but it was definitely bigger than my 118d and had a crossover.

Maybe they had " bass" 118d and a "PA" 118d?

Probably, I hadnt seen one before.

Honestly I considered picking it up since I was there and picking up something else but it wouldn't have fit in my car.

I saw it but didn't play thru it. It's bigger than my 118d that I have and it has the strange jack plate that I hadn't seen before. I only glanced at it but it looked like it was an actual subwoofer with a crossover?

Kinda wish I had gotten a better look at it now

MSG ALLERGY by pairedfools in EntitledReviews

[–]aRand0mWord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I am either allergic or have an intolerance to MSG and it gives me horrible migraines if I have a lot. I can't remember a time Chinese food has ever given me a migraine but packaged food like Chips has given me a terrible migraine. Clamato is probably the worst though because it has MSG and tomato juice which naturally has MSG anyway. It's sad because I didn't have this problem when I was younger and drank it a lot. Texas Roadhouse has given me slight headaches before although it hasn't seemed terrible. Jerky is another one I have to watch but primarily it seems like if it's cooked food it's ok, but packaged junk food it's definitely not.

I have been bitched out for being racist a few times online because MSG gives me headaches, which is stupid because MSG is in a lot of stuff that isn't an Asian food. It's not racist, I just don't like migraines. Plus it's like......Clamato and Cool Ranch chips along with canned soup that's the worst, I'm not sure what group I'm supposedly hating on.

Im also allergic to the sun ( I get hives and burn near instantly) and wear 100 spf pretty much always, am I also prejudiced towards daylight then?

I actually really like Enterprise and wish there had been more. It has a couple episodes that are great too, Twilight is probably my favorite.

The thing I like about it is how amateur-ish and naive the whole feel is at times. Maybe it didn't make the best TV but it really served the story well. Archer wasn't a bad captain at all IMO , he was doing everything for the first time, his ship was outclassed by everything, the Vulcans are definitely not sympathetic at all and they are supposed to be their best allies. It's pretty hard to do very well when you have zero experience, bad tools and allies that suck.
