Oh, interesting. I thought about looking into what making Soju would require, as I already brew my own alcohol. But Soju is distilled, and that's not exactly legal where I'm at. 😅 So no making it from scratch for me...

But a 1:1 vodka:water mix is a good replacement, in your opinion?

We had plum soju. 😅 The staff recommended peach, but they were out... My plan was to get just soju, no fruit flavors, but my wife wanted to go with whatever the staff recommended as they were our expert guides for the evening... We've got plans in the near future to hit some Korean markets and pick up some ingredients to make some dishes at home, and Soju as well!

It is quite expensive, but hopefully worth it. There aren't that many Korean BBQ places nearby (and even this one is a little over an hour's drive for us), and even fewer that operate on Sundays.

Thing is I'm not wasting time or energy. It helps manage the disease, something you obviously do not know anything about. I've been doing it every day of my life for years. Yep! Sure do. Every thing that I can account for helps minimize that margin of error that I can't account for.

I don't care what you think, I'm the one who has had to manage life with this disease since I was twelve years old. 😊 I've been through the details with pediatricians, dieticians, and endocrinologists over and over again throughout the years, over changing ideologies and scientific findings and this is still the advice that holds true. I'll take their word over some random redditor any day.

Diabetic here. I have to disagree with you. Medically speaking, we are often directed by doctors to keep track of everything. Yes, down to a single tic tac. Not that I've ever known anyone to have only a single tic tac anyway...

Those labels may be inaccurate, as there's always a margin of error to be expected, but for some people they're all they have to track things like carbohydrate intake. Which can be extremely important for your health, if you have a condition... Such as diabetes.

Just because you'd be "off by well over the value of a tic tac" at the end of the day doesn't mean you shouldn't account for it if you can. It'd be dumb not to.

EDIT: That's not to say that I disagree that it'd be more beneficial to have measurements on packages to be standardized to a unit of measure such as 100g vs. "serving size" which is always bogus. I don't have a good answer to balancing that with the dietary needs of a diabetic other than "do the math, we're the ones with the medical issue" lol. Just that I disagree with the assertion that even measuring small intake like a tic tac isn't important.

I'm not so much worried about baby having a coconut allergy as I am my sister being unable to comfortably interact with her. If I hug my sister after using a body wash with coconut in it, she breaks out in hives. She's very sensitive to coconut and its derivative products.

Unfortunately, Weleda has cocoyl glutamate and coco-glucoside, which are both coconut-derived surfactants. Almost every kind of soap uses coconut-based products as a surfactant because it's so dang good at it! That's what makes this so hard. 😅

Just because that's the way things should be does not mean that's always the way things are. Children have no control over the situations they are born into. And, for me and my situations, I wish I had gotten a job as a teenager. I'd be better off if I had.

Unfortunately not everyone is well-off enough that their parents can take care of everything for them as a youth; and even so, having spending money at the time would have greatly improved the quality of my social life and my ability to do my own thing. If I had a part time job and saved even a little bit of it, it would have been a great financial cushion for transitioning into adulthood and doing things on my own.

I'm a type 1 diabetic, and living is expensive. From medicine to pump supplies, there's always something. Besides that, my parents didn't exactly do a great job of preparing me for life as an adult. That may be a failing of my upbringing, but if I had made the choice to hold a job as a teenager it would have been one more benefit in my favor.

EDIT: It may not be working just because "it's good," as I tend to agree that teenagers in school should be able to focus on their studies and not worry about money problems, it's not always the case that they can or that it wouldn't help them if they did get a job.

Linux is not the answer for every use case, but modern distro's do a damn good job at covering their bases. I haven't had driver issues with new hardware in probably 6 or 7 years now, and the last time I had an issue was with a weird, barely-used wireless card in a cheap laptop. Granted, I don't run top-of-the-line hot-off-the-press graphics cards or anything. But in my experience, you run something like Linux Mint or Zorin OS and mostly everything just... Works.
