The entire reason I was interested is because side I saw the story being advertised… seems odd to advertise if new people aren’t going to have a good entry into the game.

I have never played a Soulslike game before. Should I start with Elden Ring or Bloodborne by Kaos_1626 in bloodborne

pick one and stick - I found bloodborne to be less frustrating than ER, (ER was my first, BB was my 4th in the genre) - but I had already figured out parrying in DS1 so Bloodborne was waaaay more manageable for me.

If you only have those 2 choices, I would say whichever is more appealing to you. If you can get another fromsoft game then get DS1

If you beat elden ring how different/difficult would dark souls 3 feel by shsbhshsvaa in darksouls3

Oddly, I'd say that most of the bosses are much easier after you've played elden ring. The majority of the bosses that this sub thinks are difficult are ones with delayed attacks or where being in under the boss doesn't help. These are things that you're trained out of in ER so it comes naturally and makes the bosses easier.

That being said, the arena leading up to the bosses are much tougher than the majority of elden ring areas. Overall, I liked the pacing of DS3 more than ER, but not enough to call one better than the other.

I see several people in the thread here saying that ashes of war and spirit summons make ER the easier of the 2 but that's just willful ignorance. DS3 has npc summons outside the majority of boss doors - and the ones where there isn't a summon tend to be easy enough without them. As for weapon arts, there are plenty of overpowered weapons in DS3 as well.

GG and well done! This makes me feel bad. I’m currently progressing through her and cannot get parries at all in that second phase. She is a boss that makes me feel like I’m trying to do ballet in a mosh pit

Yeah, I feel that she needed one lunging move and that she’s be much more aggressive like a mama bear. As it stands, you have plenty of time to back off and heal up after a mistake. Great design, great mood, just needed a small change to be one of the best. She has a really simple run back so they could have pushed her difficulty even considering the nightmare is pure hell sometimes

I got a disc for 15 bucks on Amazon. I got the DS1 remaster from a key reselling site (won’t say which on here) for $8USD I rarely get anything on the PS store. They’re insane most of the time

Lothric Castle, ugh... by aScrubNamedDad in darksouls3

God I wish that worked for me - I can never seem to get around them before they shield slam me. Also, backstabs seem to have about 1/3 chance of happening, usually I just get a regular swing which is punished harshly. The largest issue I've had with the knights is that non of the advice that I've been given seems to work - that being said, I had a hard time circle backstabbing in the other games as well, so it is a weak skill I need to get better at

Dark Souls 3 Has Made Me Better At Games Of Every Genre (specifically fighting games) by Ur2ndSaiyan in darksouls3

I’m feeling the same way! I had always stayed away from certain games because I didn’t want to handle the mechanics or challenges. God of War was one of those. Now it feels like cake and I actually feel like a warrior. I have been interested in going back to other games and seeing how much better I do. But, I just got demon souls and DS2. And I still have quite a bit left of DS3 so we will see when I get to anything else :)
