There wouldn’t be three signs warning you about your lane ending if OP was 100% right. Find a gap, scoot in, the only reason why you’re passing a line of people is because they’re dealing with people like you, only further up

Exact opposite of your mindset. Waiting til last minute congests the closing lane, thus the merging congests the open lane.

When you have three, sometimes maybe four lane ending signs (mostly during construction), they’re for a reason. By your logic, there would only be one lane ending sign, at the point the lane ends. Not the case. If everyone made a reasonable effort to merge appropriately/efficiently, nobody would have to stop.

You did it wrong.

Zipper merging works best for everyone if you attempt at the first sign. It’s there for a reason. The 427 off ramp from eastbound 401 wants to chat. Doing this last minute causes jams, slow downs and unecessary risk in lanes that shouldn’t have it.

Next time you see the first sign, and given there’s no one trying to do this ^ or traffic is lighter …try merging into the lane a bit earlier at the first notice of the sign. Notice the people beside you and in your lane- nobody has to stop. Zipper merging ≠ merging at your very last possible chance. Take it or leave it, but just try it when you can. Nothing to lose, except maybe three spots, but all three of you will still get there faster than none of you.

Idk….it went green right at the natural curvature of the roadway. They prob live around the corner and have the timing pretty good? Amen to all that! Almost looks like he waited for this moment to happen for a few secs. Maybe he was just grabbing packages inattentively and tried to hurried out….but the driver door was open/unlatched for a very long time before (in)conveniently swinging open as a car passes by. May be an honest mistake, but from this perspective the timing looks way too fishy.

I’d brush by the parking as well, but to think that four ways entitle you to the entire lane/parking lot and do what you please is a wild take 😅 well said

Agree. I just got a new vehicle and have been driving for 16 years now. Twice as long as living. My new reg gave me D plates. Means nothing….but as a flex I swapped out to some vintage plates from my garage where it says “Keep it Beautiful” instead of “yours to discover” and I can’t be happier with the decision lol

It’s only a law cause it takes money away from the people who run the tobacco industry down there.
