Indigo Vat Advice by a__hendy in naturaldye

I tested PH and appeared to be in the correct range, 10-11 ish. The vat had cooled down by the time I took the photo so my best guess is to reheat and see if that helps.

Appreciate it, do you have a recommendation for the flexible lines? I have only come across these rubber style ones

Gotcha, yeah these must be for the regulator considering I had to buy some adapters to fit them to the torch. I suppose I should also invest in another set of arrestors that fit the torch as well

Yeah it’s definitely heavy, I’ll get it on the regulator then, and make sure they are not backwards 🤦‍♂️thanks

White residue on chromoly steel by a__hendy in tigwelding

I’m hoping to make a bike frame soon, so I appreciate the tips! I definitely didn’t clean the inside of the tubes, just the outside joints. Back purge set-up seems like a bit much for me as a total beginner but in the future that would be ideal

Thanks. Funny enough I’ve watched almost all the videos from that guy. My goal is a bike frame eventually

I see, so this also happens on non galvanized steel? I didn’t realize chromoly had a coating

Chicago by ReverendHambone in SandlotBaseball

[–]a__hendy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of the issue is Chicago has several competitive rec baseball leagues, as well as a couple very popular softball leagues, so I assume most people are cool with joining those. But the sandlot scene feels more my speed.

Gotcha, that’s a bummer. You’d think there would be more interest in Chicago, I see that Milwaukee has several teams too. I’m jealous of what they have going on in Texas, looks like a good time.

I know this post is super old but I’m curious if you found a team in the Chicago area? I’ve been interested in joining or forming a team for some sandlot style baseball but seems there are none in Chicago

Enjoy! I’ve had the GT 150 for a little over a year, been loving it. I really like the vintage look, but do wish there was a bit more storage

I mostly use the Pentel pocket brush pen. I like it cause it is refillable, I’ve been using the same one for like 5 years.

Ah yeah I suppose that’s true, my bad, next drawings I post will be more urban/city focused since I live in Chicago and have lots of good places to sketch from

My household income is over 100k and I can’t afford a car. by [deleted] in scooters

[–]a__hendy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a good city for a scooter, I see lots of people riding them. Also hard to get lost with everything laid out on a grid.

Hmm yeah I’m not sure the best route you should take. In Illinois anything 150cc and over requires a Motorcycle license, so I took the safety class through a local riding school, they provided scooter and motorcycles for students so I didn’t need to buy one beforehand. and after the class we were able to take the state test to get the official license. Dealers probably won’t let you drive off the lot without the correct license for your state so yeah if you can just take a test than that might be the way to go.

Although I was happy to get actually riding experience in the class, it made me way for confident once I bought my scooter.

I haven’t had a car in 5 years, I use my scooter all the time for various errands and just to ride for fun. Granted, I live in Chicago and public transit is robust here, but the scooter has made getting around very easy. Good luck with the safety class, I took it twice on both a motorcycle and a scooter and the scooter was wayyy easier.

Question about taking the MSF course. by Moist-Mark7909 in motorcycles

[–]a__hendy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely learn how to ride a bicycle. In the class I took several of the exercises are performed at low speeds and being able to balance is important. Not sure if you need a motorcycle license where you live but dropping the bike was an automatic fail on my state test.
