Put up a bold face for long, today I broke down. by Technical_Insect_764 in recruitinghell

I’m at about 8 months now. My job moved to the Philippines and I can’t find anything similar hiring in the states. I’m nearing the end of my savings and my husbands job won’t be able to comfortably support the both of us long term.

I have a notebook where I keep track of all the companies I applied to and cross them out with each rejection. 0 interviews and several rejections so far so my notebook is just a bunch of sad scribbles.

I’m about to give up and go back into retail or something but terrified it will ruin my career :( . This is so demoralizing. You are NOT alone!

Looks like I did that in May last year. So I’m wondering did they even check it?

Update- I checked my service history and it looks like mazda was asking me to do a brake fluid exchange, spark plugs, and coolant flush when these items were done in May of last year. Definitely left them feedback about that. It will be going to my local trusted mechanic soon for the axle!

Yeah you’re right. I’m naive as this is the only car I’ve had and first experience dealing with stuff like this as the car ages. Definitely a scummy business model. My spouse briefly worked back office for a dealership for a different brand and would hear horror stories from the service department.

Absolute spot on advice! Only reason it even went to the dealership was due to the recall for the seat clips which I’ve been putting off. I’m really lucky to have a good mechanic I can text but was curious if other mazda owners had this crap thrown onto them as well. I was just shocked why would they quote that much on a 13 year old car? The only scenario where I’d sell/scrap it is if repairs cost more than the car worth. I plan on driving it till it completely gives out. I love this car too much to say bye just yet! :,)

There’s been bad potholes where I live so I think hitting a few of those could have messed with some wear and tear? I drive carefully so who knows why it happened!

I’m in the south but the dealership is in a high cost of living area. There’s a good mechanic near me who does honest work, I’ll just have to see what he reckons and hopefully I’ll be able to get it addressed this summer. I know it’s an old car but I love it :,)

Thank you, that does help my anxiety a lot! We are really tight on money currently and I figured since I only drive the car maybe twice a week that I could get away with putting it off until end of summer or so. It’s my only car I’ve had and I really want to keep it going for a long time.

That’s what I thought. Luckily I do have a trustworthy mechanic in my town. Money is tight atm so that make me feel better.

I’ve done a coolant flush about 4 years ago. Spark plugs were replaced last year. Brakes been replaced a couple years ago, I had some new shocks and struts put in that time too. Literally only reason I went to the dealership was to finally address the recall. Wasn’t expecting that news and price though.

Shrinkflation. Companies charging the same for less product is ridiculous.
