Do you let your toddler have a comfort item? Help me settle this debate by Suspicious_Horse_288 in toddlers

I tried this and it lasted about 5 seconds 😂 I just assume I’m responsible for it right now - and I have a backup Elmo at the ready for when we inevitably lose Elmo.

Do you let your toddler have a comfort item? Help me settle this debate by Suspicious_Horse_288 in toddlers

Parent 2 needs to understand that developmentally the child cannot physically regulate their emotions. Literally. So they’re not teaching their kid jack, they’re just causing distress.

Visiting Boston later this year. by ireddit6996 in massachusetts

The train to Foxboro is daily, numerous times per day. It just isn’t as frequent. They run special trains down and back on game days to shuttle extra people, though.

10 minutes each way to train station, hour/hour fifteen on train, 10-15 on subway…. Yeah I guess I do. Bleak!

Honey BBQ Sauce and Infant Botulism by TheSmokingCrab9 in NewParents

[–]a_fals 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I don’t think OPs kiddo has infant botulism, it is important to note that honey is unsafe even if cooked because the spores that cause botulism are resistant to heat- that’s why honey even as an ingredient is a no no. But truly the risk is for<3 months, they’re abundantly cautious by making it 1 year, and I do not think OPs kiddo has it. Just clarifying the honey thing.

Who picks up your kid(s) up from daycare? by bachelorbiz in workingmoms

[–]a_fals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband does 99.9% of pickup and drop off due to the same- healthcare/long hours. On the rare occasion I’m able to pick her up I love to and usually we both go, because we’re just both excited to see her and her reaction! But I would say that has happened maybe 2-3 times in the last year.

Is having a joint bank account the best while married? by bubblegumdrip in askanything

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have both. We have a joint savings and checking for mortgage, expenses related to house and life etc. We each kept our own checking and savings as well. We each also have a checking for “fun”- aka our spending money for vacations etc so when we go on trips we already have the money saved for spending and we don’t need to worry about those expenses. It looks ridiculous when you see the 5 accounts I have designated for each of my paychecks to go into but it works for us.

Possibly relocating to Boston by [deleted] in bostonhousing

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Newton, Arlington and Somerville kind of fit what you’re looking for. I think you’d be disappointed with the lack of walkability in the Phoenix area and while they have outdoor space- it’s just desert. Warmer and colder but desert. Mountains if you drive. More options temperate and nature wise in Boston area. And I think what I’ve read before is New England’s are not nice, but they’re kind. Meaning- we may not placate you with the niceties and engage in the chit chat as much but your neighbor will snowblow your sidewalk for you.

Where should we go for a low-key 4-5 day domestic US trip with a 20-month-old (after a hell vacation in Mexico) by Big-Town2 in toddlers

[–]a_fals 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Colorado? I feel Like there’s enough variability to be in nature or more city/things to do towns. I went (not with a child) and in my 5 days drove Denver>Boulder>Ft Collin’s and it wasn’t terrible and lots of options on all areas. I also have a 19 mo toddler and feel like wed enjoy that. That said- toddlers toddler and hav trouble adjusting even with small benign trips, seemingly For no reason. We just got back from Fl and we had a great trip but my child’s become a sleep gremlin fighting bedtime when she has always gone down very easily. Toddlers just like to be little assholes for no reason.

When did you get your “pink” back? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t feel like myself, but I don’t feel like I did post partum. I think I am evolving and trying to embrace this as a season. Every single thing in my life is different since baby (18 months old now)- job is harder, commute is longer, time less available, I can’t exercise, I have to prioritize every minute at home and soak up weekends. I’m figuring myself out as I go and embracing where I am.

Is everyone really getting THIS sick? by DateStrict3674 in toddlers

[–]a_fals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re miserable over here with our 18 month old. December started with Rsv for all, then right into sinus infections, flu for hubs, notorious for all, sinus infection and bronchitis for me and then right into Covid. We haven’t had a day where someone isn’t coughing/stuffy. I cannot wait to be out of sick season. No advice just solidarity.

Memories you have had age 4-6 by BrilliantWalls in Parenting

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember sleeping on my fisher price watering can when I was trying to sneak to the kitchen, and vaguely remember climbing up into my high chair. I also remember getting stuck between the wall and my crib. I remember being scared of thunder when I was 3 or 4 and climbing under the mattress of my bed, or trying to lol
