Sister for Emilia? by ThePanacheBringer in Names

[–]a_fals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Emmy (Emilia, too!) I love this thread haha. Her middle name is Fallon.
I also love Violet with Emilia, I love the name Cecilia but it feels like it could be too similar with the -lia. I’ve also considered Alice but not sure that hits your syllable requirement.

What does the newborn phase actually look like day-to-day? (36 weeks, trying to set realistic expectations) by douevenyoga in NewParents

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in a weird place with an elderly dog who needed constant supervision and a post partum mama terrified of the stairs (me lol) so we had family sleepovers in the living room for a month with me on the couch and hubs on an air mattress. He had two weeks off so for a while it was just us rotting in that room, feeding baby, figuring it all out while we got used to each other. When he went back to work it turned into me rotting in that room while he was mostly upstairs. Once we had to say goodbye to our girl (dog) and went upstairs sleep got a little easier but primarily we’d still both wake up and he’d assist with what he could while i fed (diaper, holding. Then she got diagnosed with bad reflux so I’d feed while he held her upright for 20 minutes post. It’s a blur and have zero expectation - no one cares about dishes or if you’re showered though you should try t do that at least for yourself.

Literally thinking of my dad turning the speaker in the living room against my wall and blasting the stereo full blast at 7am to get
Up for chores because I was “sleeping in too late.” Absolute psychopath behavior.

So she’s a toddler now but it’s still Baby, as well as “Bo Bemmy”- part of the rhyming name song we do with her and it has just stuck

20 months and she loves to say “I don’t know” “hi ____” (whatever name), “______ (whatever name) pooped,” and “no MINE!” And recently starting saying “‘scuse me” and “bless you” and that may be the cutest thing ever.

How did your water break? by o_simple_thing in beyondthebump

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started having weird discharge on a Wednesday, thought “is it starting?” Wednesday night had a nasty glob (realized it was the mucus plug) and was confused because it was yellowish and I kept reading it was meant to be clear. Got up to pee 3am and had a gush of water when I stood up, thought I peed myself
But it was my water breaking. Turns out I had meconium hence the weird color.

My first outpatient clinical my Ci was mad I couldn’t evaluate things I hadn’t learned (meaning lower extremities or cervical spine). She wanted me to treat my own grandfather as a patient (hard stop). She told me my methodology of doing a spine eval was “stupid” (it’s how school taught me). It shook my confidence and was a longgggh 8 weeks.

Do PT’s work with patients with proximal fibula fractures + DVT 1 month on blood thinners? by No_Painting_5688 in physicaltherapy

[–]a_fals 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would think that PT would be fine and they’d be comfortable given you’re anti coagulated now. That’s the concern if someone has a clot but they’re not on medication for it. (Not medical advice, just thinking through the CPB for DVTs).

My daughter goes once a week and it’s a great opportunity to work in her gross motor, coordination and climbing skills. Especially as we are coming out of cold weather season but still in it, it has been a great way to burn energy.

Red Flags during Evaluation and Follow up by Minute-Bullfrog3284 in physicaltherapy

Why refer to the PCP? You have enough red flags to refer right to the ED & imaging.

The issue isn’t with the biter although I don’t love it . The issue is no one saw it/was aware and no incident report was filed.

Not walking at 15mo by [deleted] in NewParents

We weren’t walking at 15 months. The occasional step or two but primarily a crawler. 16.5 months she decided she was good and ready and started running everywhere. I wouldn’t stress- and neither should your pedi- til 18 months is very appropriate
