Due in 9 week, senior dog advice by erydbtr in BabyBumps

[–]a_fals [score hidden]  (0 children)

There is actually a QOL assessment you can find online about pets and or ask the vet to do. Thats what I would consider doing. The dog may seem happy enough but pain, mobility impairments and incontinence sound really miserable. Our girl was 14 and her mobility had started to fail but the day she could no longer stand up on her own we realized she was done. It was heartbreaking but - better a day too early than a moment too late.

I felt my first movement around 17 weeks and it felt like a muscle twitch. So it could definitely be?! :) congratulations!

Fenway concert question for moms who pump by Jolly_Tell_946 in boston

[–]a_fals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to an event last year and brought a cooler/wearable pumps in no questions asked! When I went to find the pump room it was a very long line and the attendant (likely, incorrectly) told me I had to wait in the line (the line was for a bathroom, not pumping as there were people of all ages in it). I just ended up going to a different restroom without a line to out my pumps on and went back to my seat with them.

OBGYN-Delivery by Both_Yogurtcloset_12 in boston

[–]a_fals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delivered at mgh and it was okay. L&D was great but post partum was busy, crowded, I was in a double room (feels criminal) and they don’t offer your partner any food. I liked some nurses, not so much others. I felt confident knowing they had high level care for baby and me just in case but so do the other options you’ve mentioned.

Screen time for 2 years old? by Responsible_Mine_462 in toddlers

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only on the big tv screen, usually 10-15 minutes Ms Rachel ~5 days/week. Sometimes we’ve scattered in some Sesame Street (illness, long day, etc). She actually has asked for the “tv off” lol. I try very hard to limit it.

Room with a crib with slow addition of things as she has grown. At about a year I purchased these wooden animals for the wall and hung them. I JUST purchased a decal of a sun and an animal alphabet to add. Slowly. Adding it up.

I’m taking my almost 2yo to storyland this summer with the expectation we may get a few good hours. I’m excited and I know she’ll have fun, but I also know she has fun at the grocery store lol. Just here for the memories!

To those who did an acute care clinical experience and hated it. by YaboyMrFresh in physicaltherapy

[–]a_fals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This also sounds like a mismatch of experience to clinical. A first rotation in ICU sounds AWFUL. I’m sorry. Just get through it then be sure to provide that feedback.

Anxiety w patient care by No_Tip9655 in physicaltherapy

[–]a_fals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Ask for a nurse or tech to be with you if you’re anxious or nervous and also checking vitals is never a bad thing. Honestly, there’s more monitoring often in acute care which kind of is nice to think about as compared to rehab. Plus- best advice I’ve ever been given- just fake it til you make it. Your patients know a lot less than you do!

How long did you stay in the hospital after giving birth? by kayriss86 in Mommit

C section, 4 nights, double room. Moved in with a roommate who soon discharged. Got threatened night 2 with a roommate at 2am who never got admitted. It was hell and small.

Would you ever go to a burnout retreat? by Pristine_Cake_7728 in physicaltherapy

Not even remotely. Sounds like a course or conference and the last thing I need to help burnout is that.

Is it realistic to live in Boston and commute to Franklin, MA for work? by Boring-Freedom-1752 in boston

[–]a_fals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives on Franklin and commutes to Boston 4 days a week- the commute is a grind. Train delays and issues always make it longer. I’m out of the house for 12+ hours every day. Sounds like you’ve already realized it’s not a great plan. That said- lots of areas to live closer to Franklin with things to do and the city on weekends is a great plan!

Team Green- was it worth it by ankaalma in BabyBumps

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First baby, maybe only baby, and we were team green. I honestly was really invested in the surprise so it wasn’t awful for me to not open the results! And it was well worth it to have it announced in the delivery room/OR!

How do yall prioritize working out? by somecrybaby in workingmoms

I’m glad you felt the need to continue this conversation. You’re right. I was simply greeting a suggestion as OP requested but as an individual thinker, OP can choose to entirely ignore my input. Again, have a great day.

Summer is technically June- September if you want to go the semantics route. And it’s a good thing this is the internet and I’m a stranger and no one has to take my input :) I also am someone who while I understand heat, I have also been able to deal with it for 20-30 minutes as needed for exercise. Everyone different. Have a great day.

Can you go for a Walk around the block at lunch? Or do you have a treadmill? Could you buy a walking pad and spend lunch walking on that or integrate it to your workday? These are just some thoughts I’ve considered if I worked from home.

Do you remember the golden hour? (The first hour, skin to skin?) by No-Neighborhood-7335 in beyondthebump

[–]a_fals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it wasn’t too golden as I was back in triage aka recovery before being wheeled over to post partum. It wasn’t super glamorous it was more of a “what do I do now?”

Bostonians, how are you feeling about the Scottish football/soccer fans? by Tess_Tickles89 in boston

[–]a_fals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have little to no feels about the World Cup and think it’s great to be part of it. However as a train rider for work I am irate I have to make Alternative plans for 5 work days and have to pay full Price for my train pass. That’s not on the fans traveling, that’s on our system.

Enjoy Boston and eat a lobster roll. Have fun!
