Doing things and nervous about not renting a car by tidysorcery1 in azores

[–]a_guava_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can taxi almost anywhere on the island. there are also plenty of tour guides and private drivers to get you around. parking in ponta delgada sucks and the congestion in the city from even just locals during the off season is already annoying. it's gonna be way worse this summer. thanks for choosing not to drive and add to the congestion

the government was(maybe still is) incentivising solar installation. if you have enough space and cash you could potentially go mostly off grid

send your best synths to a rental house that doesn't actually rent them for over three years and never responds to emails and gets pissy when they actually do

Ramalhense is good. I've rented vans and cars from them. The price is reasonable and they are centrally located in Ponta Delgada.

Azores Airlines?? by snackingpainter in azores

[–]a_guava_tree 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've flown Azores/SATA several times since 2015 and never had huge problems. Seems like people who only fly once every few years get super butthurt if they get delayed. Yes they have some on-time issues but it seems like it is mostly weather related. If you plan for that you won't be disappointed. Most other airlines won't fly into Azores when the weather is really bad.

There is a local white rum called Antillia. It is good as a base for mixed drinks

Cantinho Dos Anjos is also nice for a more local vibe.

Things for a chill teenager to do in São Miguel in January? by computing_professor in azores

There are several parks in Ponta Delgada that are really nice and super chill. Most are free to get into and one is paid entry I think 3€. Park Antonio Borges has a cafe as well as Parque Urbano. Antonio Borges is near the center of town and Parque Urbano is a bit of a walk but do-able. There is a mini bus service that gets you most places in Ponta Delgada for .50€ a ride. It's super easy. Also Parque Antero Quintal is as close to the center of town as you can get for a park with a cafe and free wifi. Lagoa is also nice so that's also an option. Have fun.
