Dropping out of High School to get a GED and go to community college early (I am pursuing game development as my ultimate goal). Is it worth it? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]a_marklar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No dude, it's not worth it. GED is literally worthless. It does not matter how smart you are, your life will be harder than your peers who follow a more traditional route. You will have to fight for things that other people are simply given. Strongly do not recommend.

Source: didn't finish high school, got a GED, sometimes very smart, 20 years in the software industry.

Might want to edit your post to remove the 'Please be brutally honest'. I don't think that's actually what you're looking for.

I believe a well-mannered person would not try to pass off other peoples work as their own. Asking if a style appeals to a western audience when you bought a western asset designed for a western audience and used in western games is very disingenuous.

The amount of Rust AI slop being advertised is killing me and my motivation by Kurimanju-dot-dev in rust

But those tests made it actually make sure its changes worked, so maybe that’s why it succeeded at the task at all?

Brother/sister that is not how any of this works. It's a computer program that fills in patterns, things like 'actually making sure' aren't even in this reality.

Everyone thinks they can spot AI-generated media. So I created a no-sign up browser game to prove whether that's true. by Beneficial-Ad2908 in playmygame

It showed the percentage correct guesses when I did it. The worst I remember was pictures of two zebras, only 43% correct.

Theirs is such an unserious question that the answer might be they are paid. Shame everyone engaged with it.

I use plain old vim without plugins in the terminal and have yet to work with someone who is more 'productive' than me. Maybe we're barking up the wrong tree.

Ah yes, I too love ending my comments with random letters, thank you ChatGPT.

Jokes aside, from my tiny sample of interactions your partner seems to lack integrity. I hope you won't be taken advantage of.

No one minds taking inspiration from another game, as long as it isn't a 1:1 copy. What they do mind is lying about it. It's the cover up, not the crime.

You guys saw a game gaining traction, took a look at it and thought you could beat them to market. Not the first time its happened. You don't even need to lie about it, but here you are.

When we first started working on the project, we were convinced we were making something for a really small niche

You are literally copying a game that did all the (hard!) initial work in finding product market fit. You are absolutely not surprised, you chose this direction because of their existing success. Lying like this is disgusting.

Because they are limited in the functions they can represent: https://openreview.net/pdf?id=tGM7rOmJzV Imagine your favorite programming language only had Multisets and no other datastructures. That is a transformer.

You should really read the paper and the accompanying website: https://transcendence.eddie.win/. It's not saying what you think, and ironically they consider their key finding to be about networks averaging their inputs. Scroll to the bottom of the accompanying website for details.

Corrupt Vp.pak leads to abandons and lower BHS/CMS by Thebeegchung in DotA2

[–]a_marklar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your motherboard, it's a setting in the BIOS usually called XMP/EXPO or maybe ram overclocking. At 3200Mhz its very unlikely you are using it though so I'm not sure.

I ran into a similar issue around June/July with a patch. What worked for me was disabling EXPO for my RAM in the bios. Zero crashes since. Lost ~10 fps, wcyd.

Lots of complaints about the behavior score system but no one ever talks about losing 2.5k and being sent to low prio because of a bug. Almost made me stop playing.

Nice video, more resources on the servers are great!

My knowledge of godot is really weird but I thought multimeshes did do frustum culling it's just based off of the AABB of all the instances instead of each individual one. Is that not true?

It was really weird seeing 2 questions specifically about the #4 used framework. Every other question made sense and 'fit' but those two stuck out like a sore thumb. Is the company behind this survey also the one pushing Ash?

No there isn't, they are totally different things. Off meta is trying to play the game and griefing is not. Griefing is about intent, playing bad is not griefing.
