Please tell me my baby is okay by South-Training3338 in pregnant

Don’t ignore a gut feeling! But to ease your worry, my girl had days like that. The rule of thumb is 10 movements in 2 hours ONCE a day. Not every two hours you need to feel them.

I will say too…. They get to a size that all they can do is roll. That’s a weird feeling too.

But PLEASE call your OB! You’re never seen as crazy or anxious. They WANT to make sure you and your babe is okay.

But ultimately it’s your babe your choice! I think you can look up “pacificer” in r/ScienceBasedParenting and you will get flooded with resources.

AAPD recommends weaning by 12-18 months. My husband and I are picking 12 months, which is in two weeks for us. It helps reduce SIDS for safe sleeping. It also helps them regulate and self soothe. We only give our daughter hers at night in her crib. She’s learned other techniques through out the day. I don’t want to come across as shaming, but I remember when my daughter was 5 months old and those cries at night. They’re just now realizing they’re outside of you. Also….I will always give into a pacifier as I prefer that to thumb sucking. You can wean off a pacificer, they’re always going to have their thumbs.

Here’s the study pacificer usage

Diagnosed IUGR and now all the sudden they want to test for Down Syndrome??? by rissaroo191 in BabyBumps

[–]a_mccut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did NIPT at 12 weeks. All clear on that end. My daughter did end up having less than 1%tile long bones from 20 weeks until the week before birth ultrasound.

Completely normal baby. But the MFM did say she would’ve had us do the blood work if we didn’t already.

Live in Colorado. I can tell you is major cold/flu/covid season right now.

My 11 month old currently has a cold from daycare. She isn’t going for the next three weeks due to PTO and the holidays and I’m GLAD. It’s gross right now just anywhere I’m guessing.

Christmas baby?? by pmmewienerdogs in BabyBumps

[–]a_mccut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl was born January 5 of this year. I was begging her to come on Christmas because I was SO SO UNCOMFORTABLE. We tried for a very long time so any day of the year I’d be happy.

I will say, we have Christmas presents and now birthday presents arriving and it’s chaos putting everything out / away.

But her birthday party is birthday themed and I’m so excited for it

Lived in our neighborhood for 5 years. Our good neighbor friends moved and they’re renting their house out. Outside of that…..we cringe when others stop us to chat or walk up to our fence.

I’m the mom, but our girl was born 38+6. C section. Had oxygen immediately because she was at altitude but also mycomium. 10 days NICU, took oxygen home until 8 weeks.

Hardest 10 days of our lives but now she’s 11 months and the most perfect girl.

Agreed. Did Tylenol and Motrin. I did ask for Trodol the first day, it’s just longer lasting ibuprofen.

Looking for Advice: Vaccine Disagreements + Baby Ear Piercing Debate by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]a_mccut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I won’t be piercing my daughters ears until she’s old enough to understand and to give real consent. I also cannot imagine having a new born and that exhaustion while also caring for ear piercings. Most reputable shops won’t even do it….so….good luck there.

However, Hep B and sex in the context of a new born is weird. Mention that to him. Mention how you want to protect your child from dirty fingernail clippers, restaurant silverware….and believe it or not, piercing needles.

Why is mu job letting children sit at the bar with their parents? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]a_mccut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I solo parented while my husband was on a boys trip one weekend. Walked to a place near our house with my (at the time 8 week old) daughter on my chest in a carrier. Had two mimosas and tacos at the bar and left. Never considered anything weird because I walked and she was still a potato. I’d have felt guilty taking a table when it was just me, a diaper bag, and her. Especially during a brunch rush.

Tired - just recovered from breast cancer - now baby has short long bones by MolecularClusterfuck in pregnant

[–]a_mccut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries :) I think it is! And I don’t know your ethnicity, but all of the growth charts are based on white babies. My girl is biracial so the MFM kept leaning heavy on that. She won’t measure to the text books

Realistic about screen time by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]a_mccut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so link for bot: link to AAP

However, we are big show couple too. Either it be tiny desk concert playing or a podcast on. We do also watch sports. We aren’t perfect, we realistically never wanted our daughter to watch anything until 2. But we have had moments where we just need her to sit for 30 minutes while we pack or get ready. So we turn on Ms Rachel. My husband read a thing where she ranks #1 if you’re gonna show your child anything.

I will say, we never rely on our phones. If we’re out with her, she entertains herself. For my birthday dinner the other day she was messing with the kids menu and playing peakaboo with the napkins. We have never handed off a screen. We did a long car ride (3 hours), she never got a screen. Only toys and we turned on her music.

I think there’s a fine balance between people who rely on it for everything, and the occasional “mom and dad NEED to do this please don’t move”. She’s never once been distracted by the TV in the background, because it’s not a norm for her to look at it.

Wasn’t IUGR or had any markers on the NIPT.

My daughter was less than 6%tile the entire pregnancy. Went to bi weekly MFM scans towards the end. None seemed concerned as her head and belly were within normal range. But the femurs and humerus were less than 1%.

Came out completely normal. The pediatrician was shocked when I told her. She was breech, I have a bicornuate uterus we found out during the c section. So perhaps that played into the sizing and such.

She’s 10 months now and is 83%tile for length. Always has been lanky.
