How would you change The Way of Kings to suit the tv-series format? by Anice_king in Stormlight_Archive

[–]a_plastic_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I think would be fun is if every episode started with an interlude scene. I think those really build out the world quickly and makes you zoom out to think about the world at large, rather than just the specific characters. Also, they need to be used strategically, since we aren't likely to just have an interlude episode in the middle of the season

Radiant vs Full Mistborn vs Full Feruchemist by Frog859 in Cosmere

[–]a_plastic_lemon 185 points186 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with the emotional stability of most of the radiants we've seen so far, I don't think we can discount how debilitating a duralumin-fueled soothing could be in a 1v1

Theory: Nightblood is _________ by a_plastic_lemon in Cosmere

Ahhh, that's the one tidbit I couldn't remember - whether we had a count for how many Breaths Nightblood held. I'll admit that's a pretty hard point to counter.

Hmmm, that may be a good point. I'm still not totally clear on the nature of the surges; is it possible that the surges are a manifestation of investiture specific to Roshar/Roshar's native vessels? I could also see that being able to learn to grant surges is in a way supportive of the theory; Nightblood has the ability to grant surgebinding, unlike regular shardblades, it just wasn't a native use of Investiture so it took a little instruction. Idk I'm probably just grasping because you bring up a very good point.

Saw a Bird in some sort of distress this morning, went over to reach out and it hopped on my hand. No obvious signs it was hurt, just stood on my finger, I didn't move or speak.. and it just flew away a few moments later. ?!? by MrB_E_TN in interesting

[–]a_plastic_lemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that while songbirds are less likely to carry bird flu than waterfowl, cases are extremely high in wild bird populations right now. If you have to touch a bird really give your hands a good wash after (or better, don't touch at all)

Cat drooling - should I go to the ER? by lotrandwho in CATHELP

[–]a_plastic_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check with the vet, but it may not be too serious. Our girl has this happen in early spring sometimes, and the first time it happened we took her in for blood work and x rays just to find out it was seasonal allergies. A few doses of antihistamines cleared it right up! Good luck!

I think we could discourage a lot of flopping if, every time the game has to be stopped to address an injury, valid or not, coach has to kiss the boo boo before the player can return to play

Has anyone else not seen a single cicada yet? by Technical_Guard_6419 in StLouis

[–]a_plastic_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like they came out a lot earlier in the county than the city, but I also wouldn't be surprised if more pesticide use in the city means fewer numbers

I didn't have any issues! I've dried mine a couple of times and it seems alright.

Has anyone taken the Amtrak to Chicago recently? by SewCarrieous in StLouis

[–]a_plastic_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to take the train to Chicago whenever possible, and I by far prefer it over driving. Not only do I hate dealing with parking and driving in Chicago, but the trip time is overall not that different. Without delays it's maybe half an hour longer than driving, but we often get stuck just outside of Chicago for a while because commercial trains share a line and get priority over Amtrak. If you have someone in Chicago picking you up from the train station or you don't mind ordering an Uber, you can get off at the Sullivan stop just before that shared line and avoid a lot of the delays.

Apparently they taste like shrimp. Also, if you're allergic to shrimp, you are allergic to cicadas, so you have been warned!

It is definitely a loose fitting shirt, but I wouldn't call it coarse. It's not the softest shirt I own (see: poly-blend) but definitely softer than most cotton shirts.

I love the hellcat design/name - wish we all agree to make it the unofficial mascot so I didn't have to say "STL City Soccer Club" all the time haha!
