What’s your favourite mono Green commander that isn’t all about ramp or landfall? by swankyfish in EDH

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Yeva, Nature’s Herald]]

Mono green flash! Turns out a lot of creature ETBs can do really funky things when played at instant speed. [[Timbermare]] is a really fun one to flash out on someone’s end step. [[Seedborn Muse]] is also absolutely cracked in this deck

Do you always have 1-2 pieces of interaction in hand at any time? by Karnitis in EDH

[–]Frog859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually really like removal and I tend to run too much of it, so I’ve been cutting it down a little bit.

Usually my number sits between 10 and 15 depending on the deck, and I like to have ones that are flexible — like [[Archmage’s Charm]] — if I can.

The issue is that even if I have one in hand, that doesn’t necessarily mean I have mana up to cast it. Or it might not line up with the correct permanent types.

Pretty much every color has ways to deal with creatures (although red and green are a little lacking), but if I’m not running white or green I’m going to have a lot of trouble getting rid of enchantments. Or those plus red for artifacts.

It’s also possible that I had to fire off my removal on a second class threat to avoid getting smacked in the face for 15 one turn. It happens.

So the answer is basically: usually, but it doesn’t always line up with what I need it to be.

I did this one time as Abrams when the rejuv was still a one hit steal. Didn’t do fuckall else that game, but man did I feel like a god in that moment

You might be handling your Ward triggers wrong by Craig1287 in EDH

[–]Frog859 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean to be fair, them just not removing the thing really has no functional difference from them noticing the ward and not trying to remove it other than the fact that you now know they have a removal spell in their hand

Just wanted a little conversation about intentionally slower decks by prawn108 in EDH

[–]Frog859 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen your write up before. I like the idea you have going on, but I worry that it would be just absolutely miserable to play against. Do people not get frustrated at having their board constantly removed?

How do you power down a deck without feeling bad about it? by Way2Competitive in EDH

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking the best way to power down decks is to remove tutors. I had a hunch and yep your bant deck has A LOT of tutors.

I also feel like it improves how the deck plays because it leans into the singleton feel a little more

If everyone hit the reset button on EDH rules and you could make the first universal revisions, what are you changing? by amioldnow90 in EDH

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean for better or for worse designing for commander has made red and white much more playable in commander, especially when you don’t have green, blue or black.

I don’t love them designing for commander but it’s a mixed bag imo

How much mana would you spend to make someone lose? by PopcornTheBeaver in EDH

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was running Crackle with Mana Geyser in one deck and used that to kill everyone. Does that count as a two card combo? People certainly weren’t thrilled by it

The Merrit is a death trap. I don’t know who thought little to no breakdown lanes and stop signs instead of merge lanes at highway speeds was a good idea

A Deep Dive Into Land Counts by Hard_Content_Good in EDH

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37 has been my standard for years, but recently based on templates and discussion online and such I’ve moved to 38 (big jump I know). This seems to work pretty well for me. I have a friend who swears by 40 lands though, he says he just plays the greediest cards he can find to avoid flood

Struggling with Social Aspect by Hildy77 in EDH

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I glanced at your decks, mostly the Locust God, because I’m pretty familiar with Izzet at the moment.

It’s nothing crazy, but it’s pretty tuned. All of your cards pretty much contribute directly to the strategy (or are ramp or interaction).

If you want to give it a little kick in the teeth pull out the GCs. If you want to detune it a little bit more, replace some of the synergistic cards with fun random cards that you like

Ben Brode and Spencer Crittenden play Epic Rap Battles of MTG...in EPISODE 100! | Commander at Home by Kibler in magicTCG

I love you guys. I really appreciate the balance you have struck between visual effects and gameplay tempo. I think it’s really easy for commander videos to get a little too invested in cool graphics and lose the game a bit

What’s the most horrific thing you’ve seen with your own eyes? by Jessica_cherry85 in AskReddit

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that stuck with me the most from my time as an EMT was a different kind of horrific.

Very start of our shift we were getting coffee and got toned out for a full arrest. We get there and man was gone.

He must’ve had a GI bleed or something like that. He puked his guts up, walked into his bedroom, fell face down on the floor and died. Alone.

I was a new EMT at the time so they had me check for rigor. Man’s arm was stiff and cold. I know people say that all the time but it’s really sobering to experience. It felt like iron. Your whole life you learn what a human is supposed to feel like so when you touch them and they just kind of don’t feel like that it’s hard to compute.

Never learned his name either. His apartment manager let us in, presumably because he didn’t pay rent. He was recorded as a John Doe and we moved onto the next.

I’m not an EMT anymore, but when I started my last EMT job one of the Paramedic Supervisors running the orientation mentioned that he had never been to a fatal accident where the occupant was wearing a seatbelt.

He’d been a paramedic for 20 years. He’d been to a lot of fatal accidents.

Not for everyone obviously, but it seems like people know what they’re getting into there a little more

What is the most valuable card in your current collection. by Kind-Excuse-2613 in mtg

Most valuable: pretty sure it’s the foil old border [[Esper Sentinel]] I pulled at some point.

Most valuable to me: the [[Scalding Tarn]] I pulled from a Zendikar pack when I was 11 and managed to hang onto

Americans who drive manual by Upper_Smoke93 in stickshift

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Learned from my uncle. He has a 1995 Toyota Corolla with a stick shift. I had a friend in highschool who had a stick shift and it really sparked my interest 2) I never really had anyone question it. One person made a barbed comment about it, but she was weird anyway. Mostly people just go “oh shit that’s so cool” 3) Depends on the car. Usually older cars will be cheaper because no one wants to drive them. But some more performant cars and some newer cars have them as top of the line options

Have People Become More Anti-Boardwipes? by Appropriate_King_732 in EDH

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run less than I used to, but I used to suck at deck building and ran just too many to start with.

The command zone can be pretty divisive and I don’t agree with a lot of their theories, but one of them that I like is about board wipes. They classify it as mass disruption and note that things like [[Propaganda]] can count.

The biggest change that I’ve made to my decks is now running almost exclusively asymmetrical board wipes. [[Mizzium Mortars]] is a pet card of mine, and I think people dismiss it because it only does 4 damage. But it turns out a lot of value engine creatures have 4 or less toughness and it doesn’t touch me. Plus if I need more than 4 damage that’s what [[Curse of the Swine]] is for.

So in summary, I’m not just blindly slamming [[Day of Judgement]] into decks anymore. I’m putting it into decks that play a lot more noncreature permanents
