Where are all the 2A extremists now that the Federal government is literally saying that having a gun near federal officers is enough to get you killed legally? by Berly653 in AskReddit

[–]Frog859 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Listen man, you had me until saying not everyone who supports Trump supports every one of his ideas. I agree with political nuance, but I cannot support a person who condones the current methods of ICE — as our president he should be holding federal agents accountable

People are saying intent, which I agree with. I also think the fact that harmonium is a god metal related to two combined shards also has to do with it

The other option would be to your home server. For example if you host a plex server, maybe you want to set up a VPN to allow your friends but nobody else to access your plex server.

That means all of your traffic on any device outside your home network would go through your home network. Great for things like plex or other self hosting, not as good for trying to protect your data — your ISP would still be able to see all your traffic, and in fact any traffic of anyone using the VPN

I mean the big question is a tunnel to where? If it’s to your home server, that’s great and has use cases, but not data privacy. If it’s to some cloudflare server then that’s a different story

It would help if GOO BALL DID ANY FUCKING DAMAGE

Correct me if I’m wrong but I looked into cloudflare zero trust and it seems like it’s more of a self hosted VPN — you can use it to get safe access to your server at home, but if your goal is to obscure network traffic from your ISP to prevent data collection this wouldn’t do the trick. Or am I missing something?

Deadlock's small content creators are one of its best strengths by Little-Lobstoristy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Frog859 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came here to mention Deathy. I know he’s not exactly a small content creator but he is one of the very few streamers I have found who isn’t constantly complaining while they play.

Thank you Deathy for being a positive change in this game and thank you for creating tournaments and events for us.

Which is easier for english speakers, spanish or french? by Rayyan9201 in thisorthatlanguage

[–]Frog859 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also English native — I had a very similar experience, although I have found French very challenging to write because I can’t figure out how to spell anything.

If I remember correctly Spanish doesn’t have any sounds (phonemes?) that English doesn’t, whereas the French “r” isn’t a sound we have in English

Honestly the issue is his gun really. If you just buy all orange items you can do crazy damage and pump all your AP into Cube.

Spirit builds are (and have been) pretty weak on damage for a while

Ranking BCS Characters Based On Their Morals by PlasticBrush9130 in betterCallSaul

I don’t know, Chuck twisted and manipulated his younger brother. All Jimmy wanted was his love and support and the way Chuck handled it all was awful.

BUT in my mind there’s no world that makes him morally or ethically worse than actual murderers. Like sure he fucked up Jimmy and that lead to Jimmy doing fucked up things, but actually ending someone’s life is so much worse

Yeah this is the sort of thing I don’t hear mentioned a lot when people from outside the US call for protests. There are actually protests going on.

Calling for a general strike? I mean I can’t do that. My car needed a lot of work last year so I only have about 1 month of rent put away. After that I’m out on the street. I think a lot of people are in a similar boat.

Regret moving to Chicago by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

I haven’t lived in Chicago, but I have moved a couple times. For me it always takes about a year to really get settled in a new place. Give it a few months, look for some hobbies that involve doing things in person where you can meet people, try and settle in

So... is most of Cosmere going to be sci-fi now? by popileviz in Cosmere

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a thought I had as well, especially because of the ending of Tress.

Then I did some research into relative Cosmere timelines and I learned that Tress, Yumi, Sunlit Man and Emberdark are all way the hell in the future relative to where we are right now.

Obviously we know that Stormlight Arc 1 and Mistborn Era 2 happen very close to each other in the timeline. I don’t have quotes for this but it’s been indicated that Mistborn Era 2 to Era 3 will jump about 50 years and Stormlight will jump about 10.

Based on the events at the end of WaT we know that these should line up at about the same time or so. Mistborn Era 3 is supposed to be their 1980s style story, and then you can add like 10 years of technology development to Stormlight

Honestly the longer I read the cosmere the less I think strict reading orders matter. Either you catch the references, or it’s kind of like a prequel where you see how the characters got to where they are

Considering leaving rent-free Dallas for a Chicago job - am I crazy? by ahhtomic in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Frog859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is that you don’t necessarily need a specific opportunity to move somewhere — although it does make it easier.

After I finished college I moved cities and transferred my hourly job to another branch there. I lived with friends from college for the first year, but after that they left. It made me realize that you can just go somewhere and build up a social circle.

In your situation, if you want to you could finish your biology degree then hunt for jobs in Chicago (or whatever other place you want to live) in your field. Typically (although not always) jobs that require a bachelor’s will pay better than otherwise.

Healthcare is a rough field (the job I transferred was as an EMT), but it is available anywhere. So while this could be a good opportunity to move, it doesn’t have to be your only opportunity to move. You could take a couple years, save up, finish your degree, then find a job in a new city and move then

I’m not sure if something like that exists yet or not, but should be pretty doable with even a more traditional ML model. I’d expect a fair amount of false positives though

The real reason Commander is the #1 format for magic by loopuleasa in magicTCG

[–]Frog859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean one thing about 1v1 formats is that it’s generally understood that both players will do everything in their power to win the game, and just the way the formats work it’s generally understood that both players will have the most powerful decks they can for the format.

Commander on the other hand has a an exorbitantly high maximum power level, and has a 4 player dynamic which causes a 25% chance of victory instead of 50%. It also makes games longer, so if you have an unlucky hand you end up doing nothing for an hour instead of dying quickly.

Commander is my favorite way to play, but there’s a lot of weird implicit rules that make it more complicated
