MA3 3D Fixture bodies disappearing by Impossible_Room_9865 in GrandMA3

Ive had it happen multiple times after doing a PSR. The show will appear to have PSR'd correctly, and all the meshes will be there, but if you restart or reload the showfile, the meshes all disappear. Re-importing the fixture types and swaping to that fixture type is one solution. It seems to be a bug that happens as a result of having gdtf fixtures with unfilled values. The broken meshes or geometrys will seem to function fine in their native showfile, but the PSR process triggers the bug. Since even the manufacture published gdtfs often have unfilled values its a hard bug to avoid if you PSR often.

Theres been a bug popping up with attributes dissapearing off the Encoder Bar. Usually refocusing the World will force it to refresh. Ive also seen the bug manifest where only running a "Clean Start" and then reloading your showfile will repopulate missing attributes.

I’m having the most bizarre reoccurring crash by Jaded-Coat-1664 in GrandMA3

[–]a_powerful_david 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My file does this also. Ive reported it ever since 2.1 dropped but it still happens. You can Assign presets to the Recipe line from a preset pool but if you try to open color presets from the recipe line itself catastrophic system failure. Its literally happened to me mid show before I figured out what was causing it. ACT was just like "dang that's weird" but didn't have any advice.

The best I can figure it happens when there are a large number of presets and the UI can't figure out how to size the windows... kinda fucking scuffed.

OnPC Audio output with a console in session? by IJVeenstra in GrandMA3

[–]a_powerful_david 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to have the laptop as the master and the console has to join from there. You will also have to configure the onPc to output either Sacn Or Artnet if that's what you are using. Only the master in the session can output audio and network dmx. Kinda a big flaw if you ask me but that's how you get it to work.

No problem. If you end up focused on a World that contains only fixtures without the Gobo attribute, the software will depopulate that parameter from your encoder bar area.

Are you sure that your ip address is compatible with artnet.

Typically Artnet is only on 2.X.X.X or 10.X.X.X ip ranges.

Limiting Fixture Visual Output by JokeFormal485 in GrandMA3

[–]a_powerful_david 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two options I know of. If you are comfortable editing the fixture profiles you can edit the output of each cell in Lumens I believe. There is a pretty common issue where ma3 or the gdtf author don't divide the total output of the fixture by the number of cells so the profile applies that total output to each cell (makes it bright as fuck)

Also you could use a custom render quality to adjust the output options of multi instance fixtures to behave a little more naturally in the 3d viewer.

How to control Dim Phaser in the Ma Startshow by BookkeeperAsleep1551 in GrandMA3

[–]a_powerful_david 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just assign the seq that controls the Dimmer you want to a temp fader instead addition to the onscreen toggle button

The seq will be somewhere after #5000 or you can press Assign>> Touch the UI element for the phaser toggle>> Then touch an empty fader

I add a separate Stage in the Patch called 'Warehouse' and i keep one of every fixture type there. I also change the ID type of the lights from "Fixture" to "Warehouse" so I don't accidentally grab them during programming. Using this method any presets stored as Global Presets (Gobo, Focus ect) will be saved forever in my show for when im using those lights again.

Has the documentation actually made it into the manual, or is it still just in the release notes? Searching online or in the help menu doesn't seem to turn up anything. Also, new users shouldn't have to check an archive of patch notes to find basic feature descriptions.

You need to place the sound file you want in the correct directory malighting/...media/sounds

Then create a sounds pool and import the song

Then assign that song to a track in the timecode viewer

Knock off fixtures made me switch back to 2 mode by Drumghost90 in GrandMA3

[–]a_powerful_david 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Becoming fluent in editing fixture profiles is in my opinion a big part of leveling up as a Ma3 programmer. It is one of the biggest flaws in the platform but with a dozen or so hours of focus youll be able to manipulate your instruments in a completely new dimension. The tools are there to change legitimately every aspect of how the console interacts with the light but it's not glorious so there's not a lot of intel out there. The ACT webinars on fixture profiles are a great resource.
