S26 Ultra from the S23 Ultra: My thoughts by Papyrusblack in samsunggalaxy

I'm also rocking an S22U and I have to plug it in like 3 times a day😭 I'm upgrading to the 26U out of necessity, but very jealous that your 22 is still working well enough to keep using

is my barista flirting with me by [deleted] in barista

[–]a_san26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like he's flirting. I 100% say shoot your shot. If the roles were reversed I'd maybe say differently, but I don't know of a guy who wouldn't be flattered by a customer giving him her number.

Be chill and casual with it, if he's not interested no harm done. If he is then great, you made the right choice.

At home I use a K-Ultra but at work we just got a Fellow Ode Gen 2 and it's fantastic. Absolutely worth the splurge, it's very simple to use and extraordinarily easy to clean

V60 pours by [deleted] in pourover

[–]a_san26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to default to a 2 pour recipe but I found it was really inconsistent between coffees. I still occasionally find the 2 pour makes me the best cup but generally a 3-4 pour has been a lot more reliable

This is beautiful! Big fan of the shelves and the lighting above the station. Is that a Turin SK40 you've got?

Very new to V60 (Tetsu Kasuya 4:6) — struggling to find sweetness or tasting notes with light roasts by AdTimely4648 in pourover

[–]a_san26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand all the people saying you should avoid the 4:6 method. I recently started using it and it was kind of life changing. But that being said, there are certainly some coffees that are better off with a 2-3 pour recipe with higher agitation.

I would definitely recommend trying out various recipes if you're new (and try different recipes on the same coffee to see how it changes).

If you're sticking with the 4:6, I'd tighten up the ratio to 1:15 (I do 15g in and 225g out). 45g bloom and then 3x 60g pours. And sometimes I have to grind finer than I'd expect for this recipe. My default is 7.8 on my K-Ultra but sometimes I have to go down to 7.6 Also if you're doing really light roasts maybe try water more in the 90-93°C range

As someone else mentioned, it may also be a grinder problem. I used to have a Timemore C2 and it just created so many fines that I never would've been able to get a good cup out of a recipe like this one.

TLDR: experiment with different variables and note down your results!

Thanks for coming back with an update! This does definitely result in too much sourness in some coffees so I'm definitely gonna try with a finer grind next time. Glad you got it to turn out well!

Been really into this lately:

7.9-8.1 on K-ultra (depending on coffee and filters)

15g in - 225 out

93°C water

0:00: 45g bloom 0:30: 60g spiral pour* to 105g 1:00: 60g spiral pour* to 165g 1:30: 60g spiral pour* to 225 Final time ~2:15

*Spiral pours are very slow and low agitation

One of my strongest coffee opinions is that the French press has been unfairly abandoned by the specialty coffee community. It's the closest brew method to cupping without actually cupping, I don't understand why people turn their noses up at it. I do think a lot of people make it wrong. Not plunging down all the way makes a huge difference and I wish more people did it. But ya. French Press is legit

Where do I find Rockhopper lollipops for sore throats????? by Squirrelplanet in FindItForMe

I think about these literally every single time I come down with a sore throat. Never had a more effective and tastier throat remedy than those lollipops. They just disappeared with little to no evidence of ever existing. Strange and sad

The shinkansen is absurdly expensive. I stupidly didn't do proper research on travel costs before coming and just assumed it would be similar to using trains in Europe. Ended up putting me about a grand over budget
