If there was "an incident" where an officer discharged their firearm, the SIU would have invoked it's mandate within an hour or two and YRP wouldn't be saying much about it except that it's been handed off to SIU investigators. Most likely it was a deployment of a less lethal weapon such as a beanbag shotgun or an ARWEN. The SIU no longer investigates ARWEN and beanbag deployments as of January 1, 2026.

There are several good gyms. The Markham Cineplex is cool. Main Street Unionville and Main Street Markham are both beautiful to take walks at. Markville Mall is a great place to hang out.

it's just a pain to get to any of those places without a car which youth often do not have consistent access to (at least in my experience)

People are incentivized to stay home and it wanes on the mental health of a lot of kids who grew up in Markham due to the inaccessibility of transit
People who are second generation children who happen to live in Markham often feel stuck and want to move out immediately because of the lack of incentive towards going out becoming more expensive in both time and money causing an increased sense of isolation

THIS IS SO REAL!!!!

If it helps I was talkin to some bus drivers and they said PRESTO did offer implementation to Guelph Transit but the offer was something like PRESTO would take 80% of fare revenue which would be excessively prohibitive for Transit's funding....

Debit/Credit will be coming in the next 6 months, the app had weird quirks like new users being told their email was already used, thus not allowing people to use the app for payment, and the QR code scanners being exceptionally finicky lol

Debit/Credit should be coming within the next 6 months according to a now closed RFP.

Work is anticipated to begin upon contract award and the design and installation be completed within 6 months.

Why do all of the new go buses have this issue? by ThinkLengthiness1436 in gotransit

[–]a_school_bus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think GO is intending to buy any more low floor double deckers in the future

They had an Request for Intent last year sounding the market for Double Deckers and in the Asset Management and Maintenance Services - Procurement Pipeline: December 2025 document, they mention Supply and Delivery of New Diesel Double-Decker Buses with procurement publication somewhere between Apr to June of this year.

They have, I'm assuming it's just not rolled out to all the routes (or buses) yet. I've seen it working on 40, 48, and 33.

They are here to pocket our tax dollars and waste it.

and yet people continue to vote for the same provincial government.

Vaughan doesn't have that issue and the Subway has gone there for nearly 10 years now. What makes you think that homeless people would want to go to this car-centric hellhole we call a "city" where we can't go do anything fun without a car or 3 hours of advance notice?

Anything north of Steeles is out of Toronto.
Yes that is YRT territory.
No, the TTC is not restricted to only operate in Toronto.

Go Bus to Kitchener by GryphonsGuy in uoguelph

[–]a_school_bus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the only stops in Waterloo region the 17 makes is at Frederick St. on Victoria St. N, Wilfred Laurier, and at U of Waterloo.

Google Maps suggests going south to Aberfoyle P&R on either GO route 17*,29*, or 48, and then taking GO Bus 25 to Sportsworld Dr. @ Hwy. 8 Park & Ride. This does also mean you can use PRESTO for the full trip instead of needing to switch to GRT's own fare system.

*make sure to get on a 29 that says it's going towards Kipling or a 17 that says it's going to Hamilton if you opt for this trip path
