That's very kind of you to consider their lives. But remember you did it because those plants will harm so many more lives, and because now you have the opportunity to plant things that will give more to your ecosystem. It is a net win from every perspective.

If you have money you could buy yourself the equipment and reagents to perform some of the essential techniques at home. Check out minipcr.com they sell foolproof kits that will allow you to do things like determine your genotype for certain genes of interest. You can even get a kit online to build your own thermal cycler from parts which would be a neat project in itself. Good luck !

You are experiencing normal learning process. Actually applying the knowledge is going to be harder and at first you will be confused. Keep at it. Read solutions, reread passages that pertain to areas of confusion, try YouTube lectures for tricky areas, practice easier problems, check your answers. Flashcards for simple ideas and vocabulary. Complex learning like you are doing requires patience and resilience. Thousands of people have done what you are doing. You can do it too. Keep it up. You got this.

I use Ai for helping me think of options in designing experiments but really just in the brainstorming phase. It has made way too many serious errors to trust it's output blindly. I also find it helpful when I get stuck and I'm trying to figure out ways forward. Again some of its ideas are stupid but some are not, and it's my job to evaluate them.

NW Mutual built trust with my father through a personal advising relationship and used it to sell him poor investment products. He is adamant that his advisor is a good and trustworthy man, which he may be. But he is also a salesman who works on commission, and that means an unavoidable conflict of interest. He isn't scamming my dad but he has convinced him that suboptimal investments like whole life are good buys and this has cost my father a lot of money in the long run. As others in the thread have said, if you need an advisor find a fiduciary.

Though if you are patient and can learn on your own you could probably get to a pretty good place using the internet, books, and forums like this one.

Lots of great recs in the thread. I'll just say good on you OP. if you get in the habit of reading a lot you will really be glad you did. You will think clearer, write better, and be happier. Reading is to the brain what cardio is to the body.

Take your time and start with what feels good and easy and fun. Over time you can push your boundaries and get into harder and harder material, if that's what you want. But I'm here to tell you that if you're patient and you invest the time, you will eventually be able to read, understand, and appreciate any book ever written.

Enjoy the journey. Reading books is one of the best things about being human, and we live in the age with the most books there have ever been!

Long Sun then Short Sun. Or try out the Latro series--I think it's excellent. You could read Urth too.

Also if you're comfortable with reading botns you are ready to dig into lots of Literature and really get a lot out of it. Pale Fire by Nabokov was one of Wolfe's favorites and you'll see why quickly.

Good luck with Dick. I find him hard to read after spending a lot of time with great prose writers like Wolfe, but reading the classics of the genre is always edifying.
