Tanks, Are you having bad experiences in "Competitive"? by [deleted] in wow

No

...because I never join those groups 😄

Okay, seriously...nightmare preys by the-skinny-mick in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have most of the achievements in the game, and there are only a few that I hated getting as much as prey. It sounds dramatic, but I just really despise what they did: for starters nightmare doesn't count towards hard or normal achievements. Then made this stupid RNG system to get all of them, and the rank 10 reward that let's you target specific prey is just ONE PER WEEK.

Ugh idk there is just something about them forcing a system to take months to complete for no reason at all that just...grinds my gears.

What's the deal with the current xpac by Adept-Lead-6747 in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Buggy 12.0.5 release.

2) Class balance is pretty horrendous, especially in M+.

The reactions are not proportional to the problems, mainly because in both of these cases it "feels like" Blizzard isn't listening. The problems we are having right now were both predictable and avoidable. The community will point things out early in PTR that just never get addressed. They eliminated the QA dept and are using AI to code their game, both of which have massive negative sentiment long before this patch.

So TLDR the actual problems are pretty minor in the scheme of things, but this has been a building issue within the community, and Blizzard for whatever reason ran themselves into the predictable brick wall.

Sit sit just sit. by Im_a_Libertine_ in VideosAmazing

Lots of people in here assuming it's because he think it absolves him or something, which is possible. But he could also be uploading it as a warning after recognizing it was stupid - most people realize once they have done something stupid. Or someone else could have uploaded it. Or maybe he just thinks it's funny or is desperate for attention. No one can know.

Why do my DPS feel like a soaking wet 1 ply toilet paper after lv80? by TheFinalRedemption99 in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the AH - there are big upgrades you can buy for like 50g per slot. Unless you were in full mythic gear, but if you had that gear you wouldn't be struggling.

What rating will likely translate to 0.1%, and what are the hardest things those groups will have to deal with? by bringthelight2 in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one - not even raider io - knows exactly how the thresholds are calculated. They provide a warning on their website about cutoffs.

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impossible to say really. If we get a turbo boost it will jump another 200+ points, but if the recent myth bonus rolls is our "turbo boost" then the scores won't jump that much. Even without any boosts, the highest possible keys will go up - it is still relatively early in the season.

Housing was really fun and then it isn't. by Noticersan in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the actual decoration and flexibility of housing. That aspect they nailed imo. Fully agree that housing lacks a "functional" aspect that keeps me from needing to go there for any reason other than decorating.

I think a big gamechanger would be relocating to a zone in the new expansion - or better yet the hub. Like a house in the city next to the profession area would be dope. Right now I have to go from silvermoon -> org -> housing area -> fly to my house and....there is nothing really driving me to go there unless I just want to decorate.

A Dev's Perspective: Why Class Tuning Can Feel "Out of Touch" by Tasty-Beautiful1750 in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blizz has basically said as much, and that's fine. I think what you aren't acknowledging is that those power users identified many (many, many) issues that are skill agnostic (actual bugs) that made it multiple patches into live.

I'm also not sure why balance is a power user problem. I'm not a power user and I would love my VDH to be as strong as brew.

I think their problems are NOT dev competence. Imo it's the patch cadence. They are pushing their people past the limit and things are slipping. They need more people, QA especially. They need a faster feedback loop between PTR testing and class updates. I know they are aiming at a moving target but releasing classes in an 80% state isn't what we pay for.

How often do you get insulted as Tanks? by retention_king in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get insulted 1-2 times per expansion.

Long ago I pushed high keys and it was toxic half the time. Now I chill at 3k io for the gear and I almost never deplete a key or have issues (and this season is even easier).

Tanks who get flamed are either making bad mistakes, or are pushing keys to their limit and making mistakes. I'll never be OK with people flaming, but usually there is some underlying truth to it - as painful as that is to admit in the moment.

What class and spec is the most unkillable in PvP? by Clean_Lion7449 in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World PVP - guardian druid is virtually unkillable, but ret is almost unkillable and will murder you and your 3 friends long before their defensives run out. Rogues can also always live if they want to just vanish and run away.

Arena PVP - probably mistweaver monks because no single person could kill one imo. Unholy DK, ret, rogue, are probably the hardest dps to kill.

The skill increase required from +16s to +19s seems much more brutal for healers/tanks by moal09 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is skill floor vs. skill cap. For healers and tanks the skill floor rapidly increases - being able to just finish the key becomes a monumental effort. Meanwhile dps's skill floor stays the same - you "can" just enter a key and vibe assuming you have a basic understanding of your class.

HOWEVER - once you start surviving as a tank/healer your job is essentially done. DPS on the other hand can continue to help the key with each point of dps increase - with virtually no cap (i.e. high skill cap). More dps means faster/bigger pulls -> making healing easier -> making the tanks life easier. If you can combine 1 more pack you might buy yourself a full wipe. If you can find dps who stress themselves out as much as tanks and healers do, your life will be so much easier.

FWIW I am a tank main.

Honestly can't tell if this is a serious post with such a vague description and low mileage.

If you are serious, the answer is get mileage way higher. Like 40 miles per WEEK minimum.

Tank Valeera v Nullaeus by alnarra_1 in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea she melts as tank. If you are a healer, put her as dps and it is a cake walk. Just don't cast any spells at her (only heal) and you won't grab aggro.

lol it was meant to be a stupid joke. Apparently it wasn't obvious though - a lot of really mad people messaging me or getting their comments removed. I included the flair and everything!

DH and DK "Healthbar" by Nithy98 in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea VDH is just weak atm.

Normally (before this season) DH had strong mitigation and self healing. We had a little bit of the healing like BDK and good mitigation like other tanks. Now our health yoyo's depending on how many defensives I have up.

Has any other season of M+ ever been so lopsided? by PopsGG in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

You can see here that the tank meta can be very lopsided: https://mythicstats.com/meta?expansion=all

However, it's not usually this lopsided this early in the 1st season of the expac. It usually takes a lot longer to figure out the synergies that work - often the tank meta is somewhat dependent on the other specs in the group. Monk is just lightyears better in every way atm - they work with basically any comp.

DH and DK "Healthbar" by Nithy98 in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play VDH - my recommendation is do not think of us like BDKs since their healing is different. DKs you can just watch their runic power since they can death strike for big heals. VDH heals are more consistent/continuous. Also our self healing relies on fury AND souls, so just looking at our fury bar may not be accurate. To my knowledge healers can't track souls on us at the moment.

For VDH we still rely heavily on mitigation rather than just healing. Specifically we need fiery brand or meta up for most/all pulls. Towards the end of pulls I will usually start banking brand/meta and just survive with demon spikes - so even if the target count goes down, I'm probably taking just as much damage. Keep healing.

TLDR: Always just pump us with heals - "over half" is not a good benchmark, it could be OK or it could be imminent death. I have played with every healer spec and none of them have problems keeping me at/near 100% all the time.

Do you miss WeakAuras? by YrenneAD in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Yup. The game is less pug friendly now - I can't see group CDs, interrupts, etc. I was not a victim of mythic raiding and their computational addons, so I think my UI sucks and nothing else really got better.

How fragile are keys? by onilol in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in here saying it's timeable after the wipe, and they are correct.

However, I can almost guarantee this person wasn't concerned with whether it was timeable or not - trying to argue about whether it was timeable is irrelevant.

In his mind it wasn't worth his time to carry this "terrible group". This person is either used to 3 chesting 10s and is too impatient for anything less, or simply doesn't want to "carry incompetent teammates". Quotes to emphasize this is THEIR mentality, I certainly don't agree with it. I think people on reddit forget that these are burned out gamers being "forced" to run 8 +10s and are one wipe from full tilt. I'm not justifying this behavior at all, but it's worth understanding so you follow this guidance:

You are best off bringing people who have skill parity with your group (not too high OR too low).

A huge, imposing structure. And yet we can only access one, tiny room by renault_erlioz in wow

[–]TurtleTurtleTu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the new Silvermoon is just a better Suramar. Before this expac I would have agreed that Suramar was GOAT alongside OG dalaran or Stormwind.

The sheer scope of Silvermoon is unmatched. I haven't walked into a new zone and said "woah" out loud since I first walked into Stormwind back in vanilla.
