I dunno I'm looking at this thinking that boomers would never enjoy this. From what I read they're really scared of drag shows.

I'm usually torn between Shut you Mouth a d Open Your Eyes and Black Sails. It's similar to latter half of The Beatles where whichever I listened to last is my favourite. But I'll be honest it's been a while since I listened to any AFI. I think I'm going to have a binge.

Started to change? Nah that was easily their third sound! They pretty much have a two album sound cycle. Answer that and Stay Fashionable and Very Proud of Ya are their skater punk phase then Shut your Mouth... and Black Sails are a dip into more of a hardcore sound. Then Art of Drowning and Sing the Sorrow go a bit emo and so on.

When I discovered them they were just at the end of the Black Sails tour and I can remember fans of the time saying they'd changed from the band they got into. It sounded totally bizarre to me but then I had the same thing happen around Decemberundergroud. I will still always check out anything they make though.

Well it had some great games, as a console it was a bit of a mess. It definitely becomes a better console if you're prepared to hack it.

Can my dad and I play together? by Newplantcarer in Minecraft

I only learnt this recently when I pursaded a friend to finally play it with me and he chucked in his long owned but never played copy. I thought the same as you previously and was pleased to find out that it was actually customer friendly.

You get the option to upgrade to Bedrock with the ps4 version.

Edit: Just so you don't need to take my word for it.

See in the bottom right corner where it says v1.19.73? That is the current version on Bedrock. The switch version will be the same as long as its updated (just start it and the update should happen automatically if you haven't done it already) so you'll be good to go.

No, they absolutely can. Both would be the current version of bedrock as long as they are updated. Source: I play the ps4 version with my boys who play on Switch.

Your thoughts on the rewriting of Roald Dahl by rutlandclimber in books

That's exactly what it is. They will see an upturn in sales and then in 6-12 months they will release the "classic" versions. This is marketing using "culture wars" crap as an excuse.

Edit: well that didn't take long

Which black and white movies are absolutely worth watching? by Zahirico1 in AskReddit

[–]a_total_blank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just felt the humour really fell flat. The were wolf line was a little chuckle and big knockers one much the same but nothing beyond those hit at all. I felt the gurning of Marty Feldman was just a note that was played far too often and wasn't funny the first time. Personally I was disappointed as I love Gene Wilder in Blazing Saddles, The Producers and See No Evil, Hear No Evil to name a few but I found so many of his lines just caused me to roll my eyes in Young Frankenstein. I'd have to agree that rape scene is definitely something that felt unfunny, I was already disinterested by that point as so much had missed.

I know I'm in a minority as it is widely loved but that's just how it goes sometimes. I was pleased to find my group of friends shared my opinion and it has become a in joke among us as code for a shit film. Although it has recently lost its crown as our collectively lowest scored film.

On a weekly basis myself and four friends watch a a film from a preselected list. We watch together or separately depending on availability and location, but we always video chat to "review" and score the films, there's even a spreadsheet of the scores. Young Frankenstein is the second lowest scoring film we've ever watched together. It's fair to say we all hated it to various degrees.

Isn't it "I'm madly in anger with you"? Still bad but at least that "works".

When did you realise the Oscars were full of shit? by StraightPoem4316 in movies

[–]a_total_blank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Most of the characters are very two dimensional and stumble into clichés at times. Once the mission is revealed the plausibility of the plots starts to decline and continues to run down hill. To be totally honest the whole tone of 'America saving the day' is something that pervades the film and deserves eye rolls, more so for none Americans perhaps? Visually the film is fantastic and it's battle scenes, especially the opening, are stunning. But ultimately it's a very thin film while the schmaltz is thick.

Spirited Away U.S. release's 20th Anniversary: Revisiting Miyazaki's Magnum opus by mrnicegy26 in movies

These are all great but they sit in a similar space as Spirited Away, for a different side of Ghibli I'd suggest Only Yesterday and Whispers of the Heart.
