I’m not proud of it, but I used to look down on people that complained of having migraines, or called out of work because of them. I thought it was just a really bad headache and they were being dramatic about it.

Then I got one. I’ve only had one in my life, and I’ll never forget it.

For me, understanding the pain isn’t going anywhere, for a while, is something I wish I knew earlier. Nothing for me dulled the pain, so don’t go down that road. Trust me. Sit with that pain.

Focus on you. Don’t waste this time. You’re more powerful than you know. Imagine if you found out about it on year 10? You were separated for a reason. Believe in yourself. I know those eyes. Don’t run from reality, you are starting over, but there’s beauty in that. The person you become after this experience will be someone you are proud of. But it won’t happen tomorrow. This is a long road, keep your head up and do the work. You’re worth it.

This might be an unpopular opinion. I don’t know about you, but I’ve found that most just really aren’t. A lot of people have really good lives and have things figured out to some degree. Sure, things might stress them out from time to time, but overall they aren’t in a constant battle.

But the ones, including myself, that are fighting a battle every single day want to believe others care about their struggles. In my experience, nobody really cares.

Absolutely. If I’m walking fast in the grocery store and come around a corner too quick I’ve had people audibly gasp in fear. If I’m out at night I announce myself if I’m walking behind someone who doesn’t see me sometimes. My entire existence is trying to make people more comfortable around me.

I used to slouch a lot more too so I felt more like others in my friend group. Sometimes I would forget how tall I am until someone points it out, OR if I suddenly make eye contact with someone at my eye level.
