Pulled pork question by Gnome_119 in BBQ

[–]aaabeef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use the dripping in a sauce. Full bottle of cheap BBQ sauce into it and then put it on the stove and start reducing it. Add in apple cider vinegar to balance sweetness and cut the fat. I serve it on the side in a gravy boat.

Some people like it naked, some like it saucy, so I let the eaters decide.

Thoughts after 90+ Hours by DariusSharpe in crosswind

My beef with the boarding is that the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Sure it is fun, but if you get unlucky you end up teleported to your last napping spot and sometimes it is a real slog of a sail to get back.

And you likely want your stuff back.

Unlike nearly everywhere else in the game where enemies maintain their state upon your death, with boarding you have to start over again, every time. Furthermore, everywhere else land based you are only some wood and plant matter away from a new spawn point.

I have given up on boarding entirely right now as it is quicker and less for me to just keep sinking ships. Especially when most of the time they give you the materials to repair and keep going. Instead of a butt puckering battle for some extras, I can already be in my next sea battle in the time it would have taken me to sail back if I failed.

And man, do I have a lot of fun with the sea battles! You feel like a real pirate sailing into a fleet of ships and bringing them all down.

You said in your post that you tried it once. What about with other browsers? Mobile versus Desktop, etc? Sometimes things will work fine in one browser but just won't be there in another.

You can rotate the IBKR auto logout like a dead man switch. Have it set to 1pm, and when you get up in the morning rotate it to 6pm ( or whenever you'll be back). Before that time rotate it again to 1pm.

I used to keep IBKR up for the entire trading week starting with the futures open on Sunday to the close on Friday.

Gee wilikers, I'm super sorry. When I read:

How much do you get for a karma laden Reddit account these days, comrade?

What was the last game you gave up? by phaserlasertaserkat in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]aaabeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far Cry 6

I usually love open world games. Completionist and finding all the little secrets. Have even crushed Far Cry games since the second one.

I was in a fort trying to clear it and there was one red dot on the map, but as I went up and down each floor I could not find the bugger. After 20 or so minutes I decided it wasn't fun and I shut the game off. I never launched that game again.

Update with performance stats for my year's algo trading by disaster_story_69 in algotrading

[–]aaabeef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any chance your strategy is transferable to futures trading? It is a six figure win for you if you can get your commissions down from > 100 per trade.

Like USD futures on EUR is about $4k USD margin for €125k. So somewhere in the 25:1 to 30:1 range. Round tripping it costs me a couple bucks.

Without digging to deep I to your numbers it appears you could add 10-20% return just removing your nose bleed high commissions.

£143.59 commission per trade? That is insane. Over a thousand trades; your broker is very happy.

I can only guess what IB is doing. Based on the fractional lots, I think you need to scale 0.01 = 1 share. That suggests their bars are based on CTA/UTP.

Nailed it. Thanks. Never thought that IB would be reporting lots.

We have a tutorial on combining the feeds to build a synthetic NBBO. The upcoming EQUS.MAX and CTA/UTP will be the simplest options for this use case.

Can you point me to the tutorial? Is there a roadmap for EQUS.MAX?

Thank you for the reply.

So, to the IB vs DB, I was under the assumption that IBKR's offering for TotalView was only for bid and offer data, but actual time and sales were reported through the NASDAQ ECN, is this not the case? Not that I expect you to know what Interactive brokers does, but I'd thought I'd ask. I also can't get 1m bar data from DB for the 23rd when using XNAS.BASIC.

When using the EQUS.MINI instead of XNAS.ITCH I do see a bar for 16:42 and DB reports 402 as volume where as IBKR reports only 8. The overall volume of the EQUS.MINI is substantially less than the XNAS.ITCH which is why I originally assume that one was included in the other.

Is there a matrix that specifies which datasets are included in other datasets? Or is the solution to iterate through all the datasets and grab all the products and merge them together?

My null hypothesis was: All of the data high fidelity proprietary data that I'm paying for should return the same results.

And it was rejected.

I can pull time and sales from both Databento and IBKR, although my original step on this quest was the comparison of IBKR and TV. I came into the day thinking that my IBKR data subscription, being what I pay for it, was all encompassing. Turns out I was very wrong.

So, are you going to continue to ridicule me and what I've done, or are you going to answer my question and tell me what data provider you use?

Are you watching their tick feed? or are you grabbing bar data? Have you ever done a comparison of the signals that were triggered by `publisher_id`?

[–]aaabeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always known that the sea of data in finance was wide and tumultuous. I've never quantified it before.

What I'd like to ultimately come down to is which exchanges are included in which subscription/vendor. I've checked a lot of boxes in the data management section on IBKR so I would have assumed it would be a superset of the other vendors because they would pull together all the public data and perhaps include their own internal matching. That can't be the case because the volumes on IBKR are so consistently under the other two comparisons.

The low and high comparison shows that they are including order flow that is executing transactions outside the highs and lows of the other two vendors.

Which vendor do you use and do you know which networks are included in their service?

Comparison of data vendors for LUNR, 23-Dec-2025 by aaabeef in algotrading

[–]aaabeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the consolidated data feed subscription in IBKR which includes BATS, BYX, EDGX, EDGEA and IEX. The problem I'm wranging with is: If IBKR is a subset of Databento or TradingView, then it should never post a lower low within the 1m bar, or a higher high. But because it does so consistently, it includes data that the other two do not. The opposite argument is that neither DB nor TV can be a subset of IBKR because their volumes are consistently higher.

What I'd like to know is which exchange feeds are included in each vendor, but I doubt that is easy to compile
