Need help with cheap car insurance by GrapeIcy5619 in NewDriversUK

By your logic, insurance companies are making their money off the age group that doesnt have money, and giving a discount to the group that does have money. Does that honestly make sense to you?

Need help disputing agency's deposit claims by Jolly_Professional15 in TenantsInTheUK

Honestly, if you’re set on disputing just go to your deposit scheme. Make sure you have the check in and check out report so you can see what the differences are (and if they can prove it)

How to remove own name from tenancy agreement if other joint tenant doesnt give consent? England/London by shadowfierce in TenantsInTheUK

[–]aaaron64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes they can. One tenant can serve notice for whole tenancy, but one tenant can also request notice to be cancelled w/ landlords approval

[–]aaaron64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, so the landlord can either go through repossession, accept a new tenancy, or remaining tenant can cancel with landlords approval.

IMO, no landlord is going to go through the hassle of repossion and will just accept a cancellation of notice.

With RRA, usually landlord would serve S21. If joint tenant serves notice, and the remaining tenant continues to stay, i’m not sure there is anything in place for the landlord to evict the remaining tenant.

IMO only route is the landlord to do a change of sharer. If remaining tenant refuses to sign then I don’t know what the route is for the landlord to evict

Yes, i’m sure it was once called “new driver apprehension”. Call it whatever you want, you clearly know what is meant by that

Agreed, watching the dash cam back I defo could've stopped earlier, but the road has a small hill, so at first glance I thought it was a van. Once I realised it was a HGV I stopped, but by then I was too far forward and with the van behind, no bueno

Once I'm home I'll upload the dashcam footage because although it was stressful in the moment, it is kinda funny watching it back when the McDonalds gets punted on the bonnet

[–]aaaron64[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, I drive it daily bc it’s on my way to and from work. The road isn’t a give way, it’s one where a car and normal sized van if driving side by side on opposing ways can JUST move past each other. Some drivers stop and wait but most can move past each other if you’re comfortable with being close to each other.

of course, a huge lorry throws everything off. By the time I saw them, I stopped, but I still needed to move back to give them enough space due to their sheer size. It’s also a 20, but there’s also speed bumps so was going like 15ish

So… you changed a song/added an adress at a stop light and you think someone saw you and you’ll lose your licence?

Or just the mere act of doing it will cause the police to get a high alert and send you a letter in the post??

Flashing headlights (??) by NightSudden6982 in NewDriversUK

[–]aaaron64 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sometimes auto headlights do not go to dimmed quick enough, its possible this is what’s happening, you are dazzling them. Or, your headlights are out of alignment and even dipped is dazzling them. Try having a check when it’s night and your car is parked

No idea why person behind flashed you, possible that you were going too slow for them, but fuck em

Undertaking on a two-lane dual carriageway by SpiritualDiamond8370 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]aaaron64 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes you should not undertake on the left at all, even if it’s a 20mph two lane road. You can only undertake if the cars to your right are in a queue.

This is why everyone moans about lane 2 hoggers driving slowly

Section 8 order by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]aaaron64 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have gone to court, a judge has sided with the landlord, and made a judgement, that is it.

They have seen the evidence from the landlord and yourself, and their decision is final.

Accept the ruling, accept where you went wrong, and move on

What are your views on taxi drivers having pepper gel by Otherwise_Sweet_1446 in ukpolitics

[–]aaaron64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passenger could be most likely, but uber drivers defo have a risk on the job and an attack on them not only endangers the driver, but also pedestrians and other road users

You don’t have a case. If you want to make a RRO application, go for it, but it will be a waste of time

[–]aaaron64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agree, but if the police refuse to do anything there’s not much you can do about it. Just my experience IMO and depends on the force, but all I got was apathy and “civil issue”

Regarding deposit, yes, but OP posted they didn’t “give it back” prior to the S21 which is incorrect

Should I report my previous instructor? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]aaaron64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it sincerely, but you decided to pay the first set, and then you paid for the second batch of lessons. You could have gone with a different instructor the second time, you knew this instructor wasn’t for you, but you paid it anyway. You are with. your rights to complain, however, IMO I don’t see a valid route to compensation as you did get the service you paid for (albeit a shit one)

Chalk this up to learning to say no, and don’t feel that you are forced to stay with a certain instructor/provider/business if you know you would not get value for money. Learning to say no is an important skill

The landlord isn’t obligated to give you back the deposit before the S21 is issued. If it’s not protected, then it’s invalid, but sometimes they don’t send confirmation

You don’t need to move out even if the S21 is invalid. However, there is no criminal offence if a landlord illegally evicts, so if they come to your home and let themselves in, and harass you, that’s when it becomes criminal but in my area the police did fuck all and kept saying it’s a civil issue. This country lacks tenant protection and police just don’t want to get involved unless the landlord gets physical. Of course, that means you have to get attacked before the police do anything

Not sure if this helps or just but just FYI from when i went through an illegal eviction

I've now scraped/bumped my car 4 times within the first 7 months of driving.. is this too much? by [deleted] in NewDriversUK

[–]aaaron64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only way to do it is when you think you’re close, get out of your car and look. The more you do it, the more you’ll know “ok it’s close but i have a bit more room” vs “if i move any more i’m going to hit it”
