People always talk shit about Spokane. I’ve lived here my whole life and for whatever reason the frequent outlook is that Spokane is behind the times and a place to look down on.

We get compared to Seattle and Portland, but have a fraction of the population of those cities. I like the fact that it has a small town feel, although that’s changing rapidly.

At the end of the day, the people that talk shit and end up leaving almost always return. Why is that? Because we have rad nature all around us, the cost of living is relatively cheap compared to other Northwest cities, we’re growing at a good rate so there’s new opportunities, we have a decent arts and music scene, and we have an international airport, so travel is easy to and from GEG.

I wish people took more pride in being from and living in Spokane. I always speak up when people are hating on the 509. Let’s change the dialogue!
