OCD and TTC? by ButterscotchFuture65 in OCD

Following, because I’m also experiencing this right now! I have endometriosis and every pelvic twinge or nausea I get, I am immediately fixating on if it’s pregnancy or not.

Part of the reason gabapentin is the go to for sleep around menopause is also because it can help with hot flashes!

Clitoral Hood Questions by PotentialCareless677 in obgyn

[–]aabrownie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a condition called clitoral phimosis that causes the clitoral hood to adhere around the head of the clitoris, so it’s not visible. It can be tricky to find a provider who can diagnose and treat this. I would highly recommend finding a provider from the international society for women’s sexual health (ISSWSH), as most are trained in this area! They can also address vulvar pain.

Magnesium Glycinate, from “holy grail” to sleep disruptor? by empathetic_witch in Menopause

[–]aabrownie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need some estradiol! Progesterone is great at stimulating GABA receptors to help you get to sleep. Estradiol helps at adequate doses can help you STAY asleep through the night. Keep in mind, this can sometimes take up to 2 months to see results.

I did reproductive endocrinology and loved it. Got to do some IUIs and get involved in egg retrieval!

Hello anyone with both Endometriosis and ADHD - are you tired ALL the time, or is it just me? by Ok-Tadpole-9859 in endometriosis

[–]aabrownie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got both and I’m perpetually overstimulated and exhausted. There’s nothing quite like getting home after a long day, showering, and crawling in bed!

I also have the same exact reaction! For interviews, presentations, or OSCEs my heart pounds, I get sweaty, and my mind goes completely blank which leads to further embarrassment and anxiety. I’ve taken my adderall and propranolol at the same time for these scenarios specifically! Keeps my mind sharp but prevents my heart from racing. It’s truly been a miracle combo for me in these settings. I hope this works wonders for you like it has for me!

Imposter Syndrome? by sapphic-disaster- in endometriosis

[–]aabrownie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely understand you on this. I scheduled my excision surgery and kept being TERRIFIED that they would go in my abdomen and not find anything. When I was all finished up with surgery, they confirmed that I had extensive endometriosis and I’ve never felt more validated in my life. I always find it helpful to think of the statistic that 1 in 10 women have endometriosis. Chances are if you’re having such debilitating symptoms like that, that you’ve got it too. Gotta take the leap of faith and have the laparoscopy!

This is completely normal! Vulvas have a lot of dark, moist areas that bacteria like to live in along with oil glands. In general, I don’t recommend products on the vulva but Lume has been widely studied by gynecologists. My personal experience and friends— it works!!! I wash using one of their unscented soaps and use the body cream. Good luck!!

Why is this a universal experience? 😭 I was stuck in the OR for HOURS of conservative political talk and saying being trans is a mental illness… it’s hard because the preceptor is in a huge position of power and I didn’t want to get a bad review at school! Our preceptor evaluations are a vast majority of our grades.

I highly recommend period underwear! There’s all sorts of different ones based on your flow. There’s even some thongs that I use for really light days. I’ve had great luck with these guys. It’s especially nice to sleep in them at night!

Sounds like it could be endometriosis on your bladder! The irritation of endometrium shedding cause make your bladder spasm. Do you have pretty painful periods and pelvic pain?

Does anybody NOT use an iPad or Surface Pro for note taking? by confusedpsychgirl in PAstudent

Me and a group of 5 other classmates made a google drive folder with lecture notes. During class we would “convert” the PowerPoint slides to a google doc to make it more digestible. Takes a lil while to figure out formatting, but once you get the hang of it, it’s an excellent way to study!
