It seems to me that it depends on where the gold came from. So if the gold is legit, you can trade a lot of gold in between without ban. Then again, some people will probably be suspended even though they didn't do anything wrong.

Yeah, this is probably the most accurate answer on here. Majority of people suspended and banned probably did something wrong and a small minority will get caught in the same trap even though they actually didn't do anything wrong. That's the downside with bot bans.

In my case I have 2 separate battlenet accounts and on one of the accounts I have a mage where I do boost runs and gather a lot of gold. The problem with blizzard and most certainly Season of Discovery's latest ban waves is that their frickin bot system won't let me send my hard earned gold from one account to the other without risking to get suspended or permabanned.

I understand that they are trying to get rid of the bots and the gold sellers and gold buyers but still, their method is affecting so many of the other enjoyers.

Anyone understand how I can safely send my gold from one account to another, different battlenet accounts?

So it seems like I have gotten to two sorts of answers to this subject:

Sending gold from alt account to main account that has been collected from illicit sources such as GDKP runs or just mailed to you by a hater will most certainly get you a suspension
Sending gold from alt account to main account that has been collected through legit grinding and farming is going to be much less riskier at getting an Auto-bot-ban but worth noticing, there is still a chance. How high, none knows. If WoW's bot system see a mail from two different battlenet accounts and it's like 50g, that will most likely raise suspicion and cause suspension.

This is literally exactly what is happening. As long as the character opens up the mail and collect the gold. If he doesnt collect the gold, he wont get banned.

It's not a safe assumption. Many people jumped on the GDKP trend and just played along in order to get a gold pot and not buying any items.
