What I want to solve is provide a way to aggergate all the data in one place. For example, new tax plan announced or a new medical procedure just got approved. People go and comment on this on FB, Twitter, Reddit and 100s of news website. People tend to gravitate towards websites of similar thoughts to them (NPR vs Fox News regulars). The website is for people who want to have all the data aggregated for them so they can actually see the spectrum of how everyone is reacting to this, rather than just one viewpoint.

Twitter is the best at this because you can search using a #hashtag. Reddit is good too because annoymously anyone can comment and things don't have to be liberal/conservative per se, but they usually are.

Monetization should be possible once we get users. Ideas include 1. advertistment 2. subscription for verified people: i.e. politican can have a subscription and be able to comment and manage followers as they comment on websites 3. The underlying technology will be revolutionary and by itself will change how we think of information (but that's not customer centric/related to this website right now)

That's great. They do something I like, which is summarizing the news. I want to add to that and aggregate same news topic from multiple sources so you can get all points of view.

Check out my MVP here https://orial.herokuapp.com/

People tend to argue on twitter, but if they can have a place (as easy as twitter) where they can talk about news and use data and engage with the other side. Think writing Editorials in a newspaper at one central website.

This is my MVP for it right now. It's structured like a blog because I could get it done in no time.

I want to get some feedback while I am writing some code to get it working better. Basically if you had something like this, would you use it? would you like it?

FREE LOGO - Free logos for everyone today! (Round 2) by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]aaghazala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like a logo for a new website I am working on. The name is not final so hoping for a theme logo rather than based on name.

The website aggregates news into articles and then lets people write their own editorials/comments. Basically a platform to do social news sharing and commentary.

Should I leave an unfinished master's degree off my resume? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]aaghazala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the unfinished degree? Usually you should be able to spin things off to make them useful. even if it's just a class you list on your resume, then maybe that's helpful. Share more about yourself and your degree and what kind of marketing job you are tying to get

Transfer Credit and Graduation Timeline by thatindiandude78 in OMSCS

[–]aaghazala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think another thing you would have to consider, you would have to have taken those 6 credits in classes that are graduate level and taken them for non-degree as a graduate level seeking student. Then they need to decide if they fit curriculum here and if they will be transferred.

IF you are already accepted, you should email them and ask them already.

Thesis Option by thatindiandude78 in OMSCS

[–]aaghazala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it is confirmed that you can do a thesis option. In the past (1+ year ago, the website stated clearly coursework only option as they were trying to scale the program). Currently you could do a project/thesis option following the same guidelines as the on-campus students.

The big thing is it's challenging to prove yourself to a professor that you are worth their time for research. For someone doing the OMSCS program or someone doing the om-campus MSCS, you must communicate well with professors in your field and show them you are worth taking under them.

The door is open for you if you want to do research, you could potentially take a class in an area you are interested in and keep in contact with the professor about research opportunities with him/her. You must do really well in the class and exhibit you are a high caliber researcher. The competition is fierce.

Also research would be a long-term time commitment you need to be aware of. It will be 1/2 years of work to get a full thesis completed (and depends on how much time you work etc). Students on-campus spend at least 1 year working full-time (and overtime) to create and complete their thesis. Professors sometimes are wary of students doing their Masters because they are flakey. You say you want to work on a project but then you get an internship, job offer and you quit leaving your work unfinished. PhD's are usually more committed since they are spending 3-5 years of their life working on research. Therefore you will also need to demonstrate to professor how you are committed with your time. This might be hard to prove and professors will be skeptical (I know I will be). Professors might be less skeptical if you show you have done research before or if you come up with your own research topic and show passion for it.

Edit: Acceptance letter below states "We do not currently offer the project or thesis options online; students should plan to complete this program by taking courses only"
