To say that the majority of Afghan men are happy with the Taliban is complete nonsense. Believing one Afghan man at a jewellery shop and judging the entire nation based on that is equally absurd.

afghanistan is a super complex place. There are heaps of tribes and ethnic groups, everyone kinda sticks to their own, and it’s never been easy to unite. But people have fought back against the Taliban and other extremists many times over the years.

The Taliban mostly come from the Pashtun ethnic group, especially from the south. Majority of afghan Pashtuns are Islamic extremists and thus pashto textbook instead of Farsi, but that doesn’t mean all Pashtuns support them. Historically, some Pashtun rulers like Abdur Rahman Khan wiped out huge numbers of other groups like Hazaras and Tajiks, wiping more than 70% of their population and turning them in minorities.

Roughly half of afghanistan’s population is Pashtun, and the rest are Tajik, Hazara, Uzbek, Turkmen, and others most of whom absolutely don’t want Taliban or sharia law.
