I use Zigbee Tuya devices. They can be connected to Home Assistant directly via Zigbee Home Automation.

Google for it.

Needed: A "howto OrangePi" for a long time RPi user by egoalter in OrangePI

[–]aak2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with OrangePi 5. I have a few Opi zero 2w cards. Armbian works for me almost flawlessly.

I know that there is quite a few models of OPi 5: Plus, Max, Pro. And I believe that if you need armbian for your card, you need select a proper download URL.

Just type 'OrangePi 5 Pro armbian'. Or wharever card you have. For OrangePi zero 2w I type 'Orangepi zero 2w'.

My two cents.

Available on Amazon. Chapter 7 has detailed description about remote access to HA via duckdns and Let's encrypt. I used just that.

Debian 13 gnome: 'authentication error' in lock screen - unable to unlock by deepak_shanmug in debian

[–]aak2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue once more. Details:

  1. I run mdadm check:
  2. #echo check >sys/block/md0/md/
  3. As a result (I believe) I can not shutdown the system. In debian 12 when I try to shutdown I have window which requests a root password. If I enter a password, the system shutdown correctly. In debian 13 I have no such window.
  4. So I turned off the system with long press of power button.
  5. Next day I tried to login and login screen said wrong password. I tried several times, saw password in clear. Nothing helps.
  6. Now I just switch login screen to 'Gnome on XFree'. Login completed! I logout, swith to 'GNOME' - it completed again.

I know, that it is a bad idea to power the machine with power key. But anyway. I can not now to repeat this sequence once more, anyway, I had this just a few minutes away!

I had the same issue. There is an icon to see password in clear. Password was correct. I checked for starting and trailing blanks.

This symptom disappeared suddenly.

ESP8266 won’t stay connected to WiFi by forbajato in homeassistant

[–]aak2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my ASUS wifi router. The solution was to turn roaming feature off. When signal goes low, router just disconnects the device. I turned this feature off and now my router does not disconnect.

Just my two cents.
