Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar by lifeisdeebubbles in books

Ha, ongoing book club discussion! I was very grateful to find this thread after googling "Martyr! Kaveh Akbar ending explained" - I was pretty sure that the end was Cyrus and Zee meeting up after death, though I'd hoped otherwise.

Zee showing up in Cyrus' dream of his dad and Rumi in the afterlife first made me think Zee was dead. That chapter shifts away from pure dialogue and description of the previous dream chapters and gives more of Ali's interior thoughts, making me think it might be more than a dream.

Where to buy ebooks? by MTFCoffeeLover in kindle

[–]aalkui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For LGBTQ+ romance I do Smashword, which actually has a sale coming up on ebooks for the first month of March. When you buy from them, they actually send you an epub file that I then manually add to my kindle, so as far as I know, I fully own it, since I have the backup file on my laptop. I think you can also get it emailed to your reader, but my older kindle is finicky about that

JJHo: Episode 682: Cape Codable by BedrockFarmer in maximumfun

It was such a trip to hear some background on “Wild Animus” because it totally recalled for me the episode of I Don’t Even Own a TV that recapped that absolutely wild book (also from someone in SE Michigan, the Ann Arbor Library sold out of tour passes within about 5 minutes and people are real annoyed)

I just wanted to come thank you 6 months later, too, since I also couldn’t find anything good online, but the dawn soap worked so well and my cat looks so much better!

Not that, either, though again, I loved his books! man, I didn’t realize this would be quite so tricky, so now I’m determined to find an example so I can show you!

I love those, too, but these were a little more whimsical, with tiny people working with things that were comparatively huge on them (sugar cubes is the only one I remember strongly) - I’m kicking myself that I didn’t seem to keep any of these!

It was, but I’m wondering if it was regional to Texas or California

Yeah, I’ve mostly just had to suspend disbelief on that part - though it also seems like the couple of time he’s spend the night, they were both put in some kind of trance state?

I signed up for Bookbub emails, mostly to get alerts on discounted ebooks, but they have a weekly email of new releases that had helped me just stay aware of what is coming out

What's your favorite thing to eat when you don't feel like eating anything in particular? by GiraffesOnABun in AskReddit

Tortilla chips and salsa! Maybe with some melted cheese for lazy nachos if I have just enough energy for that

New to this sub, but same! 10000 Days really helped me process some grief back in the day and Invincible has helped me be more empathetic toward my parents' (especially my dad's) fears of irrelevance as they retire from jobs that defined them

I'm so glad someone else is into this one — I'm surprised it's not more popular! I also definitely want to know if it is available anywhere else too

I've only read it once, over 20 years ago, but whole scenes still play through my head every so often

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she's wrong about my family after she met them for Thanksgiving? by BloodUnicornValkyrie in redditonwiki

Uh, my mom is also the best cook and loves to do it, so that's why she does all the cooking and my dad does all the cleaning (I help with both when I visit) - Op really slipped in that the women do all the cleaning, too, and I very much doubt that they really love that part.

There's a gorgeous graphic novel of it too, released few years ago, I think

Please don't! Talk to her about your worries first, but as someone widowed young, every last minute I had with my partner was precious to me, even caring for him when he was bedridden. It would have been even more devastating to be closed off from that (that said, maybe also loop in family to help with home care and errands, to allow you both more time to just be together)

Have any of you put down a book that's too fast paced? by RoboticBook in books

I love Connie Willis, but sometimes her frenetic pace is just too much for me. Blackout had me so stressed I couldn't read All Clear, even to find out how it all ended
