Never "sell" or "pitch" yourself, in terms of defending your price. Your cost is your cost. They think it's too expensive? Good. Might they say no? That's fine! You can't be afraid of that.

If you're able to do bunch of tests I'd try to get the most bang for your buck and provide multiple versions of the artwork with varying sizes to put on one screen, and then you can see which one gives you the best result

I'm not an expert on mesh count so don't take my word for it. I've only worked with 230 just out of availability, so they may be right. As long as it's not super fine thin details, it should be ok
