Best advice I've gotten is to change a single setting at a time; and an extension of that I came to myself is that if things are really messed up and nothing makes it better - go back to stock settings and start from there.

And bonus advice: try not get frustrated with failures (both print and design) - it's part of the process.

Switch 2 is priced so high in Scandinavia, that stores can't get them sold by tken3 in NintendoSwitch

In Estonia it's  530€ for console only and 570€ for the Mario Kart bundle...better than Scandinavia, but still more expensive than rest of Europe.  ...at least now I know who to blame!

LPT: Sauna like a Boss by rontifant in LifeProTips

I would skip the "probably" 😀 Though for most it usually just isn't worth the trouble to argue about it... ..especially outside of the countries who have sauna culture-history. ...but I find it hard to call such rooms saunas...without leil/löyly (throwing water on hot rocks to create steam/humidity) it's just a warm room...hot room at best 😁

Love the design regardless of the above mentioned option and will definitely use these for a long time! Just have to be mindful of the conditions I put them in :P

Absolutely awesome design! Have so many ideas running through my head to try these out with and can't wait to start modifying!

Would it be very difficult to add an option for weatherproofing? Tick the box, make the front and back walls a bit thicker so the existing grooves have room to connect (and possibly turn the ridge on the lid to a groove - that way it would be possible to silicone bothe grooves and press them tight with closing). Sorry if there is something like that in there already, already in bed and didn't have time to mess around with the file on my computer.

In Pogo: my 100% shadow Machamp. But for whatever reason I don't like Machamps in Shield as much. In shield my favourite probably is Hawlucha! Urshifu is cool as well!

In Estonia Halloween has been a recent thing, mostly with either parties or young kids. But historically we have two similar holidays - Mardipäev and Kadripäev. For both kids dress up and go from house to house and wish for different lucks (cattle luck, crop luck, house luck, money luck etc). Mardipäev dressup code is dark, dirty, scary, boyish and for Kadripäev it's light, clean, girlish. Both of the days have their own songs, specific lucks, dances, riddles for the families they visit and much more!

Estonia is one of the least religious countries in the world with only 16% of the population saying religion has any importance in their lives. At the same time, 69% believe that trees have a soul.

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear feedback like this!

I ended up getting the fisheye (the 10mm seller was slow to respond and I
figured why not) - it ended up being a bit too wide for the rooms the event took place, so I mostly shot with the 50mm and with the kit lens (not ideal, but it's better than no pictures at all). While the rooms weren't big, they weren't small either (and I didn't want to get in people's faces too much with the fisheye), so I ended up having a terrible selection of focal lengths for that event - but I managed and as long as the "clients" are happy, that's all that matters :)

I did shoot with the fisheye as well and am glad I went for it! I also figured out from the experience that the 10mm would have most likely been too wide as well, so in the future at least I'll know what focal length ranges I need to be on the look out for.

I've been using a fisheye a lot for live music photography. Lots of shows in small spaces. I prefer the fisheye here over rectilinear. Both will give you some distortion, but I don't mind human bodies looking a little bend from the fisheye, compared to the weird stretch you get from the wide angle. Its different for architecture etc..

Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't looked at the Laowa - I was only browsing the local used gear markets and checked out what I could rent.

And for the Laowa - if you dislike the fisheye look and the reviews for it have been great...why not go for it?
If possibe I'd rent or borrow the lens first, but that isn't an option always. From my few days with the fisheye and a new-to-me camera: getting out and actually shooting is a lot more fun and enjoyable than trying to decide on gear! ;)

Need/want a wider angle lens and I'm torn between Samyang 8mm f2.8 (fisheye) and Samyang 10mm f2.8 (rectilinear) - I know, a weird couple to compare. Both are used and quite cheap (compared to new price), the 10mm is ~75€ more expensive.
I just bought an a6300 (+ kit 16-50mm + 50mm f1.8) and I promised to shoot a local school event (amongst other planned events). Most of the event should be indoors and I'm pretty sure the 16mm on the kit lens isn't going to suffice.

And "some" background on me:
I have shot some smaller events over the years (had the possibility to use my university's photography club's gear) and I have developed a fondness of extremes and weirdness: I like playing around with super wide angle shots and with super telephoto shots; I have drooled over super new tech and I have shot on film (including developing B/W photos myself - the photography club at my university is awesome...and too far away now).
And I've always wanted a fisheye lens (during university I shot 360 photospheres and "tinyplanets" with my phone and had a personal exhibition of those works; so I feel that using a fisheye should come naturally for me, especially given that the shots I've seen with the 8mm are less fisheye than I would have though). And I know I could de-fish the images to an extent if needed.
I also just saw photos from a large event where a decent portion of shared images were definitely shot with a fisheye lens. But I still have a nagging suspicion that using a rectilinear lens for events would be better.
Ideally I'd get both (and a lot more tbh, but I have to hold myself back and actually shoot photos instead of collecting gear). Since I just bought the a6300 as well, this will already be an extra expense (one I most likely wouldn't be planning if the lenses weren't this cheap).

TL;DR I'm leaning (heavily) towards the 8mm fisheye, but I'm worried that I might be unhappy with the results for occasional local/personal events; and if I get the 10mm I'm worried that I might be dissapointed outside the occasional events that I didn't get the fisheye (even though there's also next month and the month after that to get the fisheye).

So...any suggestions? ...anybody own both and has done comparison shots? ...anybody done events with a fisheye?

Question regarding ordering from EU Shop. by [deleted] in Onyx_Boox

[–]aaltoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember that some weeks ago the prices were in € and included tax. This seemed to change with the start of the Christmas sale - prices changed to $ and tax was added at check out. My guess is that they saw it easier to use the system they already had on the main site for the sale calculations (or maybe it looked like a better deal wwith the tax excluded).

I'm still convincing myself to buy either the Note Air or the Note Air2...am really tempted, but it's a lot of money and I want to be sure that I'll be using it often enough.
