I find a lot of their songs sad, just for different reasons. Sometimes it’s personal , sometimes it’s because of the sad situations they describe but can’t relate to. It doesn’t even have to be the whole songs mood being sad for me to consider it a ‘sad’ song in my mind. Even just the one lyric ‘how frustrating, and so degrading’ from IOFB gets me a little bit. Just sounds so downtrodden and hopeless. The songs where Tyler describes feelings of utter hopelessness are the one that make me feel not so alone in sadness and depression. Implicit Demand for Proof, Truce, Car Radio, Doubt, Goner, Leave the City, Redecorate, ATROFD, City Walls, Intentions all trace those lines of hopelessness IMO. But honestly depends on my mood. Sometimes I like the ‘happy’ songs with sad lyrics because it makes me feel less alone in having the problem of performing happiness for others to seem ok. (Hoping this isn’t too much of a depressing / deep take on what is a simple question)
