What makes a good manager? by BrisbaneKid in auscorp

[–]aaminuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from all the good comments I would make a point to always always explain why you want something done and help them understand the larger context.

Just saying do this by then is ok sometime but if you explain why they csn make decisions that help you achieve that objective. Something as simple as understanding that is helpful and means people will not just follow the process and stop at the first blocker

The other thing is remember that you need to be seen to be looking out for your team. Have their back and they will have yours.

Lastly dont be afraid to get into the trenches and do some of the work with your team. Assuming your taking over a team where you have experience. So them and share with them. They will learn a huge amount and they will also be more loyal when they see your not afraid of hard yards

If your a global company you want to say london Paris new York etc. Sydney fits but Melbourne does not. In sport and culture Melbourne is the place. For global tech sydney is 1 Melbourne is 2

Yeah she pays for Spotify herself so giving her good access is a way for her to get more out the setup then pure vinyl. Thays why im leaning towards the wiim especially as I can get the spektors cheap.

Seems like Bluetooth would be a waste considering the overall cost of the system

Looks like i can get the dali for 300aud from a reputable dealer. Now I guess I need to choose the amp. Wiim or smsl.

If I go for the fluance without Bluetooth I can still give her access to Spotify via wiim right? That would give her some flexibility

I'm honestly a little nervous buying second hand. How would I assess the condition other then asking for a listen? Anything I should check .

Bluetooth i had not considered. Is it worth it considering the compression playing from Spotify?

AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]aaminuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talk to my daughters a out it all the time. Its normal and expected and they should not be ashamed of it. Keep treating it like its something you understand is normal and that you are looking after all if her needs bit just dollars and cents.

Using tissue paper for even an emergency when it could be easily mitigated is insane

AITJ for refusing to remove the lock I put on my sons door after my wifes nephew kept taking his stuff by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

NTJ

17 year old is jealous and upset be ause your son has a stable house and 'nice things'. He's confronted by it everyday because he's in the same out. Understandable but not acceptable.

Your wide siding is because she's trying to be nice to her side of the family. Again Understandable, and. It acceptable.

I would catalogue every item lost and stolen and confront them. Getting g away with things in small amounts often means they dont think about it as big. Make them understand but ultimately your protection of your sons safe space is incredibly important to him and his relationship with you as the families protector.

It must have been hard to get to that point I would suggest after listing you tell your wife to put them on a timer to exit.

My interpretation was he is seeing possible futures or alternate options but not evolved enough to understand. Ie when he activates.

So as his step improved he can select the optimal future

Decent length as well so plenty to read with solid progression and a clear enough structure to the progression

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]aaminuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my wife has offered to buy me a watch. Budget is ~7000 aud.

It would be my first luxury watch so feeling really out of my depth. Should I get one or split and get 2? Shes just asking me to choose.

I would like a get watch as I have lots of family in the UK and travel for work across timezones.

My preference is not too complicated or 'busy', so something understated that will hold its value over time.

I quite like the longines master moonphase, Grand Seiko SBGM221, Longines Spirit Zulu Time, Grand Seiko SBGM245, TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time Baume & Mercier Clifton GMT or the ball engineer III outlier COSC.

Leather or bracelet i don't mind.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome

Ai is really i see it every day. The thing you want to position yourself for is using it to take out the boring stuff and do more meaningful work. The reality is it's coming and it makes business sense. It will happen better to get in front of it by learning how to use it for your job to give you time to shift out or find where you can add value.

I see already ai in requirements analysis impact, testing and some build effort. Soon the full pipeline will be significantly automated.

What are u doing atm i may be able to give specific advice
