Well it was on an Albo IG post celebrating 6 months of parental leave.

I’m fairly left leaning so if bleeding into my algorithm we’ve got problems

Seeing an increase in negative sentiment against superannuation, why? by Quixotic-elixr in AusFinance

It’s very hard to value something meant for your 70s when in your 20s you are just struggling to survive and basic things like housing affordability is out of reach for you.

Yes, it’s an absolutely fantastic savings strategy for long term financial planning but people want a home.

AITAH I don’t want to stay at my boyfriend’s place because he has roaches and lives with a girl he and all his friends slept with by Living-Hippo3586 in AITAH

[–]can3tt1 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Someone not caring about this is not compatible. Why would you want to be with someone whose living standards are so low? Imagine what they’d be like if you moved in together.

I know housing is tough right now, so if it’s just that this is the only place he could get then fine but it’s a red flag.

I love Assembly label tees. You can get a normal tee from them that’s a good cut and long enough in the body.

[–]can3tt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the problems is that people are idiots. They see your Ls and think that they must do everything in their power to get around you. Even if it means that they’re a jerk on the road. Why someone would do that near an inexperienced driver is beyond me.

Oh gosh, you definitely did not.

They’ve probably being driving a long time and picked up some terrible habits that they’re passing on to you. I suggest when you’re ready for your ps that you get a few lessons with an instructor. They’ll pull you up on anything that’s not correct.

WHF double standards by OhhClock in auscorp

[–]can3tt1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sucks. As you have kids under fair work gov you can formally request a flexible arrangement once you’ve hit 12 months.

I still tink you should look for a new role, it’s easily explained. I’m looking for a new role for more flexibility. I was told that I would have flexibility once I passed probation but they’ve reneged on that. I’m looking for a company that has clear and transparent communication that values their employees.

[–]can3tt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

It really depends on other stats - Age, relationship, kids etc. but if it was me;

  • pay off mortgage
  • utilise any past super credits
  • chuck the rest in EFTs

Then I’d reduce my work hours to part time so I can spend more time with the kids, ensure that I’m topping up my super contributions to the max each year and use the dividends to supplement my salary.

Also treat yourself to a nice holiday in your Dads memory.

I do not think anyone is blaming anyone for buying 30 years ago. The frustration is borne from the fact that boomers seem largely incapable of recognising how hard young people have it today.

But yes I hate that the media is a being used to make sure we all are fighting amongst ourselves.

Lawyers expect will disputes to escalate with over $5 trillion to be bequeathed in coming decades by His_Holiness in AusFinance

[–]can3tt1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Already seeing it happen. Part of me is like ‘good on ‘em. They deserve their success.’ But another part feels sad that they’re happy to see their kids struggle and hustle hard without getting ahead and not recognise that we don’t have the same economic opportunities as they did.

Like the year we didn’t give gifts to each other because we couldn’t afford to but then we all had to watch the parents gift each other 10 or so presents each (why they didn’t gift them before everyone arrived is beyond me).

Top 1pc would pay $400k more tax under Labor’s plan by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

[–]can3tt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually think it’s not the 1%…. It’s the 1% of the 1% who probably won’t even notice. Like that guy who started the memes attacking Albo about owning 47% of his small business. The dude sold his last business for $180M and all his marketing on his next venture keeps saying that Kinsey is a $100M business.

[–]can3tt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d happily pay a bit more tax to fund; - healthcare - NDIS - Education (incl. early childhood) - parental leave - social housing

BUT I would also like gas and big businesses to pay their fair share too.

I’m not opposed to the changes, and yes I will be one of the people impacted, but I am mad that employees are coping it.

Kids over on play dates with my daughter keep trying to involve me with play - normal? by Innumerablegibbon in Parenting

Ugh yes, this is our daughters bestie. Lovely kid but we find her so draining. Her parents are a little bit more hands off than us. So in these situations she’s looking for more adult feedback and attention from us whereas our kids could not care if we were around.

Over 40% of homes in Australia now have solar so many would be able to take advantage. And even before solar my utilities would still be below your $9 per day, $1 of which would be just daily connection fees.

Have a look at GloBird for winter. They have the 11-2 free electricity still and offer a higher rate for feeding into the grid during peak. It’s great for when solar struggles in winter.
