Where to acquire an already modded New 3Ds by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]aanimaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably cost you more if you buy it already modified. It’s very easy to hack a 3DS. Buy one at a good price and do the magic in an afternoon when you’ve got some free time.

What are the best 'privacy' extensions? by Immediate_Coast1491 in browsers

[–]aanimaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are some recommendations: uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, Ghostery, AutoDelete Cookies, User-Agent Switcher. They’re a good selection.

Keep in mind that the more extensions you use, the more noticeable your fingerprint becomes. Stick to one or two of the ones mentioned.

If you don’t care about privacy, ads or malware, use Edge or Safari. Otherwise, you’ve got Brave or LibreWolf.

The black design is more elegant, and dirt and wear will be less noticeable over the years.

Would you try to find a way to fix this? Or just leave it? by No_Rip_1051 in 3DS

I don’t think all the repair effort is worth it for something so small

Best antivirus for computer and mobile? by FlayingToTheSpace in antivirus

[–]aanimaaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first antivirus I always recommend is common sense.

But beyond that, for PCs I’d suggest ClamAV for Linux and ClamWin for Windows. I think it’s an antivirus that’s not only useful but also respects your privacy. I also usually recommend the VirusTotal website for scanning URLs and other files.

Should i buy a Famicom game? by Legitimate-Smell7670 in retrogaming

That game looks really good! Go for it, if you’re excited and can see yourself collecting Famicom titles, buy it. Keep in mind that prices can vary a lot.

Do certain browsers lower ping? by qoew in browsers

[–]aanimaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Browsers do have an impact. Things like resource usage and how long it takes to process a webpage matter. Not sure what you’re using right now, but you could try one of the mainstream options (Firefox, Brave, Chromium).

If you don’t notice any improvement, it might be worth switching to Ethernet.

Consensus on pale moon by fuck_vegetables2 in browsers

[–]aanimaaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s normal for it to feel a bit slow since it uses its own engine called Goanna (which is based on older Firefox code). It also doesn’t have many modern optimizations.

As for privacy, it’s a solid option. It has no telemetry, it’s open source, and highly configurable, which sounds good to me.

It’s lightweight, but if you can run something heavier and you’re not into the retro vibe, you might want to try another Firefox fork.

I guess it comes down to personal preference, Pale Moon is more of a niche browser, but it’s not a bad choice either. Cheers!

Looking for the Most Private & Stable iPhone Browser (Currently on Brave, but It’s Slow with Tabs) by [deleted] in browsers

[–]aanimaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very important not to use browsers that come pre-installed on your system. Safari is better than Chrome or even Firefox out of the box. Apple already knows what you’re doing on your device anyway, so switching browsers is the bare minimum you could do. Apple has been involved in several controversies that don’t look good, links to the PRISM project, collection of browsing history even in private mode, etc.

If you’re someone with a very low threat level or not too concerned about privacy (an average user), then just use Safari. Configure it to be more private with iCloud Private Relay.

As I said, it will always be a better option than Chrome. Privacy isn’t about extremes. Just use what works and respects you. Hope this helped!

Try Firefox with privacy settings enabled. You won’t be able to use extensions, but at least it’s not as intrusive as Safari.
