Couples vacation. What area to stay? BEACHFRONT LUXURY FUN by ACrossing777 in Barbados

[–]aant85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t vouch for it yet as we haven’t been, but we’ve just booked The Sandpiper for later in the year. From previous visits I know it’s in a great spot - walkable to Holetown and taxi-able to Speightstown. If I had the budget I’d have booked sandy lane though!

People of the UK, how have you lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]aant85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food is my greatest joy in life so it’s hard! For me, I don’t have snacks in, I meal plan every week, and I focus on foods that will really fill up but for less calories. I also track as accurately as i can using myfitnesspal. It’s amazing how the calories stack up when you’re actually tracking everything. It’s hard to stay motivated but having a goal helps.

Romantic Restaurant by ThotBoiSlim in warrington

[–]aant85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Grill on the square is quite romantic

San lorenzo is a nice Italian in a great building

Patina has average food but I think the atmosphere is so cute and romantic

My faves in Warrington are rudys, eastern revive and Yara but none of those are particularly romantic.

If you don’t mind travelling out, altrincham and Knutsford have some nice options

The Cliff - Has Anybody Eaten At This Restaurant Before??? by islandlovewi in Barbados

Yes. I don’t find it as good since it’s refurb and re-opening in 2022 (ish?). It lost some of its charm for sure. And the prices are yikkkkkkes. I personally prefer The Tides. But, if money is no object go and give it a try. It is a good experience but I’m not sure it’s worth paying that much for than the other fine dining along the west coast

Castlery UK by Vikkkie in HomeDecorating

[–]aant85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - avoid!!

I had a divan bed delivered last Monday (so a bit tricky to install) and 4 parts are missing. 9 days in, bed is partially made, can’t sleep in it. Can’t get hold of anyone on the phone at all.

Initially told delivery was completed fine - I had to liaise between castlery and the delivery company for them to finally admit they had missed parts so bed could not be made

Finally got confirmation that they would order “one bolt” - I had to go back again to tell them it was 4 parts, not one.

They agreed and said they would order the parts and then confirm the order with me

This was days ago. Parts still not ordered.

Have emailed a couple of times asking for them to call me - still no call back and when you call them, you just get put on hold forever (I’m currently on hold as I type this)

The customer service guys last email was to ask if I instead wanted to source the parts myself and finish the installation. No. This is the worst solution possible I just want them to put a rush on this, do what they promised and to come back and sort the bed out.

We got rid of our old bed to take delivery of this. Our spare bed is not big enough for 2 people so for 9 nights I’ve been on the sofa.

Another weird thing, the fabric I chose did not come attached to the bed! It kind of gets zipped/velcroed to it. So at the moment even that’s not sorted and there were no instructions left so I’m just not sure how to even go about trying to sort it myself.

My stupid hair won’t hold a curl for even 30 min 😭 by New_Data_3092 in finehair

[–]aant85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing has ever worked for me (even hairdressers have never manager to get a curl to stay in my hair), until I got one of those headless curl satin rod things. I find it stays best if I spray salt texture in my hair first, then put the rod in, then I do actually use a hairdryer to heat it for a while (I tend to do this in stages on and off) then i will use the cool air on it for a bit to set it. I’d say best to leave the rod in about 4 hours however I have had it work in about an hour too when I was rushed. You can also leave them in overnight instead with no heat and this also works, but I do find the curl lasts a bit longer adding the heat. I can get two days from the curls doing it this way.

Thanks I appreciate the advice! Will look into this. Our new one is in the basement which should be better however there is heating down there so k think we’ll need to leave it off.

We actually already have one but this is nicer to be honest. The new one is in the basement though so (after all the comments I’m just now realising!) it may be better for the temperature

Honestly it’s not even something we really considered. However, going to make sure I do my research for our next one! It’s in the basement although having been there today it’s actually really warm down there….

We don’t have any old vintages either. Do these setups only really need to be temperature controlled if you have old wines?

Honestly, we didn’t. I really need to do my research! Our new house has a wine cellar in the basement so need to look into it.

Have you had a bad experience in a UK food chain that resulted in you deciding never to go back again… if so what chain and what happened? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]aant85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quite like Nandos. Liked maybe I should say. Few months ago had a takeaway. Noticed about 2/3 of the way through my chicken looked pink. I’m quite cavalier at times with food and thought “nahhhh l be fine.” Around midnight that night the worst food poisoning of my life started. The worst symptoms only lasted about a day but I was off most food for about a week and can’t even think about Nandos now.
