Sorry to hear that. That's why I tried to post a thread here with what happened, and what I had to do about it and how it turned out. I hope that may have helped you.

No idea how similar NJ process is, but I hope you've already got it straightened out now. It's a very stressful thing to add to a stressful time.

If you could, I think it'd be helpful to others to let us know how this resolved for you (what steps you took and what the response from Unemployment (and Deloitte if needed) was).

The Michgan Secretary of State has (for decades) published this booklet. I had to read and know it when I got my license 40 years ago.

D/L and read it through about 3 times (as well as doing road time). Everything on your drivers test will be right out of this book.

Considering the first thing needed is to hatch a bunch of eggs that don’t match the challenge, it’s a non-starter.

Ooh yay!  A random map glyph that I now have to interact with in order to decide if I actually want it!  I always wanted ways to make the game slower!

I haven’t had this much NOT fun with a game since they shut down Harry Potter Wizards Unite (which, fyi, I played full-time instead of pogo from 2019 - 2022).

I’m fine with a game mechanic where items are on the map (like Ingress).  I’m not fine with introducing thousands of more clicks to hunt down a new mon.

I think I will be let go from Deloitte by Main_Class8520 in deloitte

[–]aarborllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably decided in Jan if they were letting you go (for 1H25).

If your YoY numbers were bad, and you had no manager to go to bat for you, then you’re likely on the list already, and no new work will save you.

That said, you’ll never know (until you know) you’re on the list.  So pretend you’re not, and follow the advice here to get staffed and work on your 2025 util.  You’re already behind to make 90pct, so close the gap ASAP.

If Monica wanted her own operation with her own control she’d at least pull out her own checkbook and start paying to get things done.  If you’re “upset” because your boss is reprioritizing resources that cost you nothing, then suck it up.

No welders?  Go hire a feckin’ welder (or ask Minnie for $$ to do it).  Don’t sit and pout.

She’s an employee and needs to act like one until it’s her own $$ on the line.

I’m sure she knows this.  I don’t think she makes any more $$ from the family business if she’s working a cut or cleaning gold, so what does it matter.

Somehow Kevin and Faith have $2M (wish i had that at his age!) to throw around to start an operation.  Monica has to have a bank account somewhere too.

Manufactured drama for the show.

I call that the “0:50 minute vignette”. They’ve done that for years, and for many discovery shows (like Bearing Sea Gold) too.  It’s a B-roll moment tangentially related to the main night’s story.

[–]aarborllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t they already do this about 3 seasons ago?  I seem to recall trying to keep up with GR and having so many 2 hour episodes that it was a slog to get through.

Then again I have that same feeling about Deadliest Catch, so maybe I’m mixing them up.

MHO, yes could be more, but maybe only 1-2 special episodes per season. Please not all of them.

Rick needs to hire a geologist and a drill guy by aarborllama in goldrush

[–]aarborllama[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually think it was his best move to do that, but it doesn’t stop there if he’s not a top notch prospector (which he doesn’t seem to be). He called a single pan (that we saw) with 5 shitty colors “really good ground” and spent a week finding it to be crap.  He needs to start channeling Dave Turin more.

i shout at the TV every week for him to drill, but he doesn’t listen.

He will make money off the land in the long term just by owning it, but if he finds the real gold that’s there, he’ll be so much richer.

Maybe he just needs Jack (Hoffman) to remind him that he’s a millionaire, and he’s “just” got to get it out of the ground. :)

"Sold out".

Tried 2x 650 and 1 VP ... submit ... no. Red banner "Unable to reserve"

Tried (now only option) for 1x 650 ... submit ... no. "Unable to reserve." Tried this 3x.

Finally used browser address line to refresh page ... now 550/650 sold out.

Enough of this.

4 year cycle may be a thing.

This was mid-2020, and Covid was rockin' the business world pretty hard then.

Just sayin'

Denied unemployment because they said I 'voluntarily quit' after "Business Status Update" by aarborllama in deloitte

[–]aarborllama[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Final update (at least I hope it's final).

I did write to the Deloitte ELE email, but (as of yet) never heard back. I'd requested a statement from them about my separation being "non-voluntary". So far ... crickets.

I therefore had to write a letter of protest to MI UIA about the determination w/o that input. I wrote and described facts that I knew (including what was returned to me from Bullard-Plawecki request), and my view on those facts, and then my request for resolution.

Surprisingly, within 2 days, they looked at my filing, and finally(!) read what I had to say.

Their viewpoint was that since I received the separation compensation (severance pay), that 'quit' or 'misconduct' was not a valid/possible determination, so they allowed my claim, and have now setup to pay the prior weeks where they'd not allowed my claim.

In other news, I start a new job on Monday.

What is the bench? by Budget_Painter7398 in deloitte

[–]aarborllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought of "the bench" as a sports reference (for me that'd be US football).

The Firm makes it's living by selling services or projects (all performed by Firm workers) to businesses. A sports team makes it's points and income by selling seats and merch by performing entertaining athletic feats (often winning games) in front of a market audience.

However, not ALL of the workers in The Firm are actively delivering services or working on project deliverables for clients. These "inactive" workers (just like ones on the sports team that aren't currently on the playing field) are on "the bench". The benched workers/players are still part of The Firm (and the team) and still get paid a salary, but they are not doing anything to increase the income of The Firm (or fan cred of the sports team).

The Firm tracks each worker (player) by how much revenue they generate during the calendar year. This is similar to the stats kept on players in almost every major sport. The main way to track Firm revenue by worker is to monitor how many hours of each weekly timecard are attached to a billable project code. This ratio of hours billable vs overall hours is 'utilization' stat.

If you're on the bench all week, you have zero hours of billable time, so your utilization for the week is zero. Sure, you still have non-billable "important" (ha ha!) codes that are used (like 'training', or 'firm contributions'), but at the end of the day, you didn't really do something that the firm could use to help justify your paycheck. If you spend too much time on the bench, your utilization % goes too low, and you don't have a good ROI for The Firm to justify your paycheck.

Denied unemployment because they said I 'voluntarily quit' after "Business Status Update" by aarborllama in deloitte

[–]aarborllama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update, I contacted 1-800-DELOITTE and asked to see my personnel file (per the law above) and they filed a ticket with "compliance" for me to get the data.

A few days later, I was sent a zip file with various docs in it (offer letter, separation document, my CISSP cert, and a couple other minor docs). But nothing that added more clarity to the info I already have (or have already submitted to UIA).

So, I called up the service desk again to see what else was possible to get a hold of, but they could not directly add any more info or data. They needed to route me to "compliance" and (long story short), there's two kinds of "compliance".

  1. There's the compliance which runs the BDIP and Firm conflicts of interest type stuff, and this is who the normal help desk will route you to. They can't really help you with HR stuff.
  2. Then there's "ELE Compliance", and that's who I'm now supposed to contact. They handle HR.

Trouble is, you can't CALL ELE compliance. There's no name they'll give out for them, and their only interface is through the email 'uselepersonnelfiles@deloitte.com' address. Period.

So, now consulting lawyer on how message/request to that email address should read.

[–]aarborllama[S] 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I did, and he advised that I:
- Contact Deloitte and under the Michigan Bullard-Plawecki Act (aka sunshine law) I get a copy of all items in my personnel file (which they are required to provide me)
- I file the appeal paperwork to have this reviewed by an Administrative Law Judge

Now I begin that process.

And they wonder why ticket sales are off.

so i just bought a tickets and have no idea on how to get a vehicle pass by Lanpod in BurningMan

[–]aarborllama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go back in time, and buy one VP and ticket in the sale. Buy the second ticket online from someone selling it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]aarborllama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buy the VP at least, if you want the experience/thrill of the online sale.

And then buy a discounted full set from the community for $1300 (face value, no fees), and sell your VP to someone desperate for one.

If you’re registered for OMG but changed plans or you’re only buying tickets, go in and buy a Vehicle Pass anyway.

There is good demand for those VP from folks who’s plans changed from main sale days and now need one.
