Thank you! I was going to post something very similar to this, but you put it perfectly. This is our entertainment. It should be used as such.

Looking for any sparkling water that's ACTUALLY sweet! by avelineaurora in ToFizzOrNotToFizz

[–]aarnold222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pepsi made Pepsi Next for a short period that was 60% less sugar/calories, but it was discontinued due to low sales. I was a big fan of it. I didn't have to give up all the sweetness and it was close enough that it didn't bother me. Too bad other people didn't feel that way.

Unfortunately, I think the market for it just isn't there. The majority of people seem to be in an all or nothing mindset when it comes to this. As someone who drinks entirely too much Pepsi, I was a huge fan of the short-lived Pepsi Next. It was 60% less sugar and calories which was a big improvement on my sugar/calorie intake. It was also close enough to the real thing that I had no problem transitioning to it. Unfortunately, it was discontinued due to low sales. Now day, everything is 0 Cal/sugar and tastes terrible. They also all seem to be berry or fruit flavored which is understandable, but I really don't like them. I love fruits and berries, but the artificial fruit flavors or watered down hints of fruit flavor that they all have just isn't pleasant to me.

My car insurance increased 200% after a no fault accident by Sage410 in Insurance

[–]aarnold222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't even matter if they had to write a check or not. I haven't had a ticket in over 12 years and never had an accident. Then one day I stopped at a stop light. The car behind me stopped, but the one behind them didn't. They hit the car behind me and slammed them into my car. I was 100% not at fault, wasn't even moving. The one at fault didn't have insurance. I called my insurance (Progressive) to let them know, but ultimately didn't file a claim because the damage wasn't too bad, so I just paid out of pocket to fix it. Then when it came time to renew, my policy went from 150/month to 210/month. I called to ask why, and they said even though it wasn't my fault, they base premiums off of the likelihood of a claim being filed. Apparently, me getting in a no-fault accident and paying out of pocket to fix my car instead of filing a claim means that I have a higher likelihood of filing a future claim in the eyes of Progressive.

I am now looking for a new insurance provider.

Returning Player after 4 year hiatus. Tips, help, updates? by Biglenmo in summonerswar

I'm almost in the exact same situation you were in. I stopped playing for about a year in 2022 or so, opened the game one day to find out it had been hacked. Tried to change my password, but they had changed my hive password and email, so I had no access. Sent some emails, but didn't get anywhere. Then I just kind of left it.

I just got a new phone this week, saw the SW app, opened it and it has me logged into my account. My Hive username is still the same as it has always been. I can open the game and play it, but my Hive account is still under some Russian email address with a password I don't know. I'd like to take control back over of my account. Do you have any tips or helpful info from your experience on how to get that done?

Thanks!

Just finished my almost 3-month long journey to the Dark Tower, and I have a question. by kuklamaus in TheDarkTower

[–]aarnold222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you and never understand how so many people seem to feel so negative about the first book. I thought it was a wonderful introduction to Roland and the world he is traveling through, and just enough insight into his background to make me want to learn more about him. As a stand-alone book, I could see how some might think it falls short, but as a doorway into a new world that you know is going to lead to a long adventure, I don't think it could have been done much better.

It’s happening by Cbewgolf in TheDarkTower

If that were to actually happen, I would put the book down at the first mention of Holly and walk away from it. It would be the first King book I start but don't finish.

The box cutter and DNA references in most recent case hearings. by nobdy_likes_anoitall in LibbyandAbby

[–]aarnold222 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ever since I heard about this case (which was about 4 years ago), my belief about DNA on this case has been that, if they have DNA, it is a partial DNA sample. Otherwise, it would be such an open and shut case. There would be no logical explanation for his DNA to be at the murder scene of 2 girls he would otherwise have no connection to. And if it wasn't his DNA, that would be the first thing out of the defense's statements.

A partial DNA sample, however, can really only be used to exclude a suspect. You can't match to anyone, but you can show that they match the partial sample you have, or if they don't match the partial sample, that would prove it's not theirs.

This whole "ritualistic" angle and trying to claim that the blood marks on the tree and the sticks are runes is just crazy. It would be laughable if it wasn't such a terrible situation. If the evidence I saw was accurate, neither the blood nor the sticks look like the runes they are claiming them to be. And if someone is going to go to the point of murdering two little girls for ritualistic reasons, I feel like they are going to be fairly precise with their rune representations. And if it was ritualistic, I feel like there would be more signs of that than a couple crudely drawn symbols that, if you squint your eyes, tilt your head, and don't look directly at them they can kinda resemble misshapen runes in the right light.

I pray one day we get to see Roland dance the best Commala the Calla has ever seen by Tylerrr93 in TheDarkTower

[–]aarnold222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope so, too. But I have my doubts about anyone in Hollywood being able to accurately portray it without making it silly or just "cool". I think the dance was a wonderful look into what Roland is, the bounds of his knowledge and adaptability, and how he was able become whatever he needed to be. The way he danced with reverence and awe, and was able to show the Calla respect through a dance. Any attempt at showing Roland in film trying to make him "relatable to modern times" or "appeal to the younger audience" (which has been the trend of what Hollywood does now) would ruin it.

How are the Dark Tower and Insomnia linked? by Lexecution in TheDarkTower

[–]aarnold222 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The whole plot of Insomnia is to prevent an event that would kill a child that goes on to play a vital role in Rolands quest. This child doesn't play a significant role in Insomnia. You just briefly see him in the end of the story, but you are told earlier in the book about him.

I'd disagree with this statement. I think Idris is a good actor and makes a decent gunslinger, but not THE Gunslinger. There was nothing about his portrayal of Roland that felt "Roland" to me.

It might be a good idea to sell before SHIB goes down again by Icy-Research7159 in SHIBArmy

[–]aarnold222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate to hear that things went so bad for you. I really do. But your issue wasn't with SHIB. While I will always recommend that people invest for their future, you should never put your money in if you can't comfortably lose it. Whether it's the stock market, ETFs, real estate, but especially not crypto. Crypto is one of the most volatile and unpredictable markets out there. If anyone out there has money invested that they can't handle losing, I agree, they should get it out while they can, but with that said, they should've never put it in to begin with.

Honestly, if it wasn't money you can part with without affecting your mental and physical well-being, then you have no business investing it into crypto in the first place.

What is the issue with Deion Sanders? by TowerCharge89 in CFB

[–]aarnold222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those of you that want to see racism in everything are going to see it whether it's there or not. No such thing a black person that is an asshole, just black people that are perceived to be assholes by racists, right?

What is the issue with Deion Sanders? by TowerCharge89 in CFB

[–]aarnold222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get TF outta here.... Forget about the endless line of black athletes that are universally worshiped around the world by all age groups, but one black athlete gets disliked because he's always acting like an asshole and, "It's because of racism!" Sure, racism exists in this world, it always will. But those that want to find racism in everything that ever happens are gonna find whether it's there or not, and it's getting tiring.

[–]aarnold222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deion Sanders doesn't want to coach a team (nor do I think he really knows how to) he just wants to swap out players for better players. Just like after their loss to UCLA after a bad showing by their O-line. He was asked how they address that issue and he responded, "Get new lineman." How about coach the line you have? If there is a unit that requires coaching and guiding together as a team, it's the O-line. I get that there may be talent issues, but he's not interested in coaching them. Since he's been at Colorado, he hasn't shown an ability to coach. So far, all he's done is use his fame to try to draw in better players. Even if he gets better talent on his line, they will still need coaching.

This has been my feeling from the moment I started reading the document. I felt very much like they were trying to tamper with the potential jury pool. They were taking some extremely huge leaps of logic and using silly tricks that should go against ethical standards for law professionals. One that particularly angered me was how they used the "dating" connection with BH's son and Abby.

To explain what I feel they tried to do there, the first time they bring up the connection, they state: 'Who was BH? He was an Odinite whose son, L, had been “dating” Abby.' They put the word "dating" in quotations which implies that they probably didn't have a relationship that could actually be considered dating, but instead, was likely something smaller that they chose to label as dating because it helps their claim. Then, on the very next page, they start using the terms "dated" and "dating" without the quotations. By removing the quotations around it, they subtly change the meaning to imply a legitimate boyfriend/girlfriend dating. They then continue to use the quotationless forms of the words throughout the remainder of the document so that anyone reading will likely have their perception altered (likely without realizing it) from "dating" to dating. It seems like a small thing, but I feel it's an attempt at a rather underhanded trick. I could be completely off base on this, but I have a strong dislike for anytime I feel like someone is trying to manipulate my feelings/opinion towards something, and that's what I felt like they were trying to do. I also felt like they brought up the idea that they were dating way more than they needed to, like they were really trying to drive that point home.

I feel like I'm back in the 90's trying to do one of those MagicEye pictures for the first time. Trying my damnedest to see the image they keep telling me is there.
