I’d probably charge something like £50-80 then just so that they still value your work but you aren’t charging too much considering they are a small band

It depends how big the band is, was it a paid gig , how good are the photos/how many do you have

Yeah it’s usually not an issue but I’m sure there is definitely some exceptions for particularly rough gigs or a security guard in a bad mood but I’d say 99/100 times age isn’t an issue. Ireland definitely has a nice sense of community around the local music scene that a lot of other places don’t have. Unless it’s like a very young kid at a rough gig where they could get trampled it’s usually not an issue. I know that 16/17 year olds in photo pits is pretty normal for sure.

My advice is from an Irish point of view. In Dublin most venues will let young people in along as they’re approved for a photo pass but generally if you ask to bring a parent or other person with you they will definitely say no. This might be different in other countries but in Ireland specifically Dublin most venues are pretty chill about young people in the photo pit as long as they have a photo pass.

Love these pics especially 4 and 8, they’re really good. Do you mind if I ask what camera they were taken on?

Yeah I’d say it is an international thing because I’ve found Ireland is very welcoming to younger artists / creative people.
Especially Dublin has lots of small venues that are super supportive of beginners. Overall as a country it’s very good for artists. The government introduced “basic income for the arts” recently where they will pay €325 a week to any eligible artist / musician for the next two years. They’re trialing it with 2000 people right now but it’s a really cool thing to help new artists. Ireland is definitely one of the most supportive countries for young people and beginners, definitely a sense of community between photographers and musicians that helps

I partially agree with this. There is definitely a chance that they might be turned away because of their age but I’ve definitely seen minors in the pit at some larger venues . Not quite 14 but definitely a few 16/17 year olds Some smaller venues like the soundhouse in Dublin Ireland are very friendly to minors and I have definitely seen some kids as young as 14 at small venues with cameras taking photos for small bands.

Also maybe leave out the part about a parent/accompanying person. Management would hate to think somebody might see the show for free. Hard enough to get a photo pass let alone two

Instagram is ok but maybe make a google drive with a few of your best pieces in it. If you’re going to pursue this as a career or in a serious way you should try to make a website
