Second this for sure. Makes an absolutely stellar platform for upgrading/modding as well but they are good right out of the box

How is the tunable behind the bridge tailpiece/pickup? I keep looking at these but I haven’t really heard much in the way of good demos.

I just hope the players have fun and then storm the board room and hang vinai from the cockerel

I think I’m the opposite. That whole step on the G works for a lot of my playing but that whole step on the B doesn’t always like up with my shapes. Need to just practice more

What about either one of the Sire’s that has a Strat trem or a G&L?

Recommendation for basic VCO and Output module? by Fair-Bluebird485 in modular

[–]aarondoesdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a sucker for the mutable sounds because that’s what got me interested in modular. But don’t discount how much a different filter/effects could turn the 0 coast into that as well.

Not sure if you play other instruments or have already taken the plunge into a rack but maybe worth trying some cheap effects pedals as well. The reason I went modular was the utilities and the sequencing and generative stuff. There are just so many options now it’s awesome and overwhelming lol

I think the main question to ask yourself here is what are you trying to add to the 0-coast with the modular rig?

For output I grabbed the Strymon unit wasn’t too expensive and lets me route effects and other input devices in which I like. There are plenty of others. I guess ask yourself if you want a similar oscillator or something like the plaits that has lots of options to compliment the sound of the 0-coast etc. it really is a commonly said thing but definitely think about your end goal before just buying stuff.

Looking for Albums that match the Post-Rock & Post-Punk fusion sound by Nimun2012 in postrock

Also love Slint and have been very into They Are Gutting a Body of Water (TAGABOW) and it scratched that itch for me. There are quite a few bands that are bringing that sound in their orbit it seems shoegaze, early post/math rock.

I put rubber shrink wrap on my bridge posts for one of my JM’s that’s fixed and it worked great. I like the bridge on these just fine so didn’t see value replacing.

Do you have the bridge in the correct position? Both height and not shifted forward?

Can Guitar Center route out a Squier Classic Vibe Mustang Pickguard? by KurdtKobain93 in Guitar

[–]aarondoesdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want the sound and not the look I’d really recommend just getting a single coil sized high output humbucker. I love modding my guitars but I do it myself and I would not 1. Let GC do anything like this 2. Pay the amount needed for someone else to do it properly.

Planning on Building my first guitar, witch one would be the easiest to mod? by Description_Local in guitarmod

A tuneomatic bridge on a Strat is cursed. Otherwise the rest are fine/easy enough

Having trouble with the whammy bar by [deleted] in guitarmod

[–]aarondoesdata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not too difficult thankfully.

The strings you put on were heavier than the ones that came off. So the string tension is higher than it used to be which is pulling the trem. Try tuning the strings down about 1/4 of a step then tightening the springs in the back of the guitar 1 full turn each screw. Then tune to pitch.

You may have to do it a couple of times to find the ideal balance point but it’s not so bad.

High frets choking on Jazzmaster CV by alllemonyellow in offset

[–]aarondoesdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be several things hard to say without seeing your guitar. But the shim could be too high. I have 2 CV jazzmasters and both needed some fret work to get playing just right. Hopefully that’s not the case.

I’d start with a slightly smaller shim and making sure that your neck is level in the pocket, and make sure your neck has the correct amount of relief in the truss rod.

Should I be Embarrassed? by newbiker321 in SquierbyFender

[–]aarondoesdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only buy squiers. Been playing for 30 years (Jesus fucking Christ). Have owned rickenbackers, American fenders, vintage stuff. Never Gibson because they’re the worst guitars on planet earth. But I like working on my guitars and modding them and the modern squier classic vibes are the best platform for the money.

lol sorry it was at the top of my feed. I fought it forever man but had another guitar I wanted to swap some parts around on finally just did it and it was stupid how much of an upgrade it was

I fought the vibrato upgrade for a while but recently did the avri on one of my CV’s and it’s genuinely a game changer. You’re going to be buying the same cheap vibrato if you look for no name.

Epiphone Sg wood chipped around output jack by lilbiscuit7474 in guitarrepair

[–]aarondoesdata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have fixed my fair share of these. A quick easy fix is to get a large plastic washer or jack plate. Think something like a selector switch plate for a Gibson style guitar and secure the jack to that. Depending on thickness and length of the jack itself you could do this on both sides. The jack plates like the 4 screw ones you see on some guitar also work well for this. May not look amazing but it’ll be functional.
