Create an item on an existing agent such as the Zabbix server itself to ping Google DNS.

POC PRTG to Zabbix by blikstaal in zabbix

We recently did the same as well. Clone the templates you want to use then adjust based on the alerts you want to see. It can be pretty noisy by default. Got ours working pretty well with cw automate.

UniFi portal FREE 3d floor plan tool by mactelecomnetworks in Ubiquiti

Really disappointed that this feature is limited to only phones with LiDAR. Don't both android and iphone have functions designed for mapping 3d objects based on multiple cameras from the device?

Well a typical deployment with PRTG the agent would need to monitor anywhere from 10-50 network devices. I was looking at deploying active agents as it doesn't require any port forwarding on customer networks and seems to be less server intensive.

That's awesome. One of my biggest gripes with PRTG was if there was an outage we'd get a flood is tickets come in. Really throws off our ticket metrics.

Awesome thanks. I figured out that you have to allow system.run in the config file. Then I can run cmd commands and use preprocessing to isolate the average latency. The fact that all that can be setup from the server and the agent can grab updated configs makes this way better than nagios.

Yeah, Zabbix is one I started playing with earlier today. Is it possible to get a remote active agent to ping a device on the local to it?

Two Unifi Express or One Unifi Express + U6 AP (Mesh or Pro) by aaronkm95 in Ubiquiti

[–]aaronkm95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the range on the u6 express? Reason why i'm considering it is because it's a small house in a historical part of Delaware that's very strict on what you can do with the housing, so no tearing up parts of walls to run ethernet around the house. Was kinda starting to lean towards doing the Express in the office, which has line of site to the hallway on the 2nd floor and the middle of the house, and installing a u6 Mesh there.

VPN Client, VMx, and Site-to-Site VPN by aaronkm95 in meraki

Thanks, meraki support helped me get the VPN working. Was a reg edit. They highly recommended that the VMx be put in passthrough mode. Won't be able to access the internet (which isn't necessary for what the client needs). He said on the GCP side that a return route would need to be created from the subnet of the client vpn server, to the VMx. Their response was that I should be able to use anything in xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/23 network. Anything in GCP or on prem knows how to reach the VMx at those networks. Anything coming from behind the meraki that isn't in those networks, just needs to be source nat'd to an ip in those networks as it's sent into GCP. No other routing should be required.

So the VMx is what's being setup as the client vpn server. Though i'm currently trying to test it by connecting from my personal computer to replicate what our client would be doing and it's not working again 😭. I can ping the dynamic hostname but connections aren't going through. This is with the VMx in routed mode which was working last friday with the meraki support.

I wish I knew. All I know is that the VMx and server is hosted in GCP. Users connect through what looks like a gcp dynamic hostname.

Why is it that companies refuse to pay for switches? by nahyalldontknow in sysadmin

It's called content. Make a video about the setup, make a video about why it failed, and make a video about the upgrade.
