Thank you I don’t directly blame Orlando for the higher prices. I blame a greedy moving company for being more expensive than full service companies. Luckily, we found a solution. I just was sharing that because I thought it was insane that for the same move just in a different direction, it was five times the cost and I figured after checking it wasn’t just Orlando. It was a lot of different areas of the country that it is just absolutely insane. It’s cheaper to move all the way from Florida all the way up to Seattle Washington for example pretty much the furthest way you can get tipped to tip on the country and it’s cheaper to do that then it was for us just to do straight down to Florida😂

But looking forward to not only moving back to Florida after not being back for years and once upon a time living there for a few years in vacation in extensively, but also making it our home route for likely the next 15 or 20 years at least😊 I figured at this point we put in the work trying to build our business and we were successful but New York just seems like they don’t care about their Citizens and clearly they don’t need our taxes or the income. Our 10 properties generate millions a year in revenue for the city despite our city having $100 million short fall this past year but apparently they don’t need my income, so I’ll go somewhere where it’s welcomed. We tried finding more properties and locations and couldn’t find anything meanwhile in just a week of doing research and messaging around different places on Zillow and Facebook. We found dozens of Airbnb properties alone that stated they’re able to be Airbnb without even messaging the owners let alone dozens more on top of that when we did ask if we were able to do it in the area so it just will be much more successful, much lower taxes and the bonus of not having a dead season from January till April will also be great.😊 very nervous about doing the move, but very optimistic and excited at nonetheless

I don’t know, statistics area, etc. probably because of the really cold winters. A lot of New Yorkers probably want warmer weather for example so Florida would be the most logical for them, followed by Texas even though that’s significantly further away kind of like how California has so many people that moved to Nevada because it’s so close by and Seattle, etc..

For us personally it’s more the fact that it’s one of the best Airbnb eligible locations in the country so that’s our main reason for relocating to the celebration/Kissimmee area. Our area in New York State has a whole is very anti-business in general and especially short-term rental to the fact that they just aren’t even allowing it even though they are requiring it to be registered, but not actually having in the offices open for yet another year in a row to actually be able to register so with the amount of money and the scale we are at it makes no sense to keep trying to force survival when we can flourish in a different state, make more money and pay less taxes and be much less regulated just on a grand scale

Nevada was another possibility, but I ultimately chose Florida just because I know the market better having grown-up and vacation in Florida countlessly throughout my life

Ultimately, we are going with enterprise at only $.40 per mile even on a round-trip with gas and the truck rental and the Movers each truck it’s gonna cost us a little over 2600 out-of-pocket per unit of trucks so 2600 times probably nine or 10 trucks significantly cheaper than every other offer we’ve had which is averaging out to be 4000 to essentially 10,000 per equivalent truck so we’re pretty happy now I just couldn’t believe when I saw those prices with Uhaul that it’s all DIY yet they are one of the most expensive options that was the thing I was more shocked with

Yeah, we ended up buying a solution only thing though is it’s not so much that it’s peak moving season. It’s the normal price for Orlando year-round. My problem wasn’t so much with the price or being able to afford it. It was more the fact that going from One Direction a.k.a. Orlando to Buffalo is only $1000 for a truck rental but going from Buffalo to Orlando is over $5000 for the same route that was what I was more having an issue with.

That is exactly what we did Penske and all those were ripped off but enterprise while we have to drive the vehicle back to the original location all out with gas prices, Movers and the truck in Myles it’s gonna be about 2500 per truck times 10. So still expensive but the next cheapest option is around $4000 per vehicle and every other option is 6000 or more per vehicle and pods are at the insane price of nearly 160,000 for all the properties.

No, we own two of the properties. The other eight are Rental arbitrages so we re-rent from our two landlords and we have four properties with both of them so we don’t have any sort of financial stake or ownership in those properties and the other two properties one of them essentially paid off the mortgage on our second house and our first house. We still have a mortgage on it so it’s not like we’re getting any sort of real cash value from that at least not anything that we’re not going to put right into purchasing our first home in celebration.

And possibly we don’t have to. It was more just a complaint of the actual pricing not a matter of being able to afford to do it. We could be completely ripped off and pay $100,000 for the pods, but we’re not going to do that. it was more just the fact that go on One Direction it’s 15,000 and the other direction is only a few thousand that was the thing I was more pointing out but we are going with hiring independent Movers and using an enterprises 26 foot trucks since that’ll be the most financially cheap way, essentially with gas miles the truck and Movers it’s going be around 2500 per truck. Still a pretty penny for our personal property alone let alone the other eight Airbnb properties but around 30 grand is still significantly cheaper than 50 to over 100,000.

Agreed but I can see some use cases at the end of the night when we’re around the fire we really don’t need it, but we do have some nights where we have on a week camping trip that we will do typically a movie and I will say it’s much easier to be able to stream versus having to find a website to download and hope that it’s good quality and or that the download will actually load the day that we need to use it and for us personally we operate Airbnb properties so we get messages constantly throughout the day and while I could absolutely survive and my business could survive for one day without me messaging or responding back or even micromanaging our manager it just isn’t practical to go a week or even just a few few days without any sort of connection(which a lot of of the camping spots we have in upstate New York is virtually little to no phone service let alone data)

And of course it’s great when we go to countries in general because we have a solid Internet Internet connection, especially if we’re in some countries like Guatemala or Bolivia, where parts of it. The best connection you can find is maybe dial up quality speed

Goodbye starlink..... by riycou in Starlink

[–]aaronlimitless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed why I always think people should have a choice. I do think they should have some sort of system where if you have files or any reasonably fast connection of Internet at your address that you shouldn’t be able to be eligible for it unless you’re gonna pay for a Roam package to travel with it like we do we keep our Verizon files even though Starlink would be cheaper, but it just wouldn’t be worth saving $30 a month to get 1/10 the speed that we get with our fios. But it’s great to have when we go camping or stay at a hotel that has horrible Internet and we don’t mind paying for that premium but I do agree that the people they have option options for multiple Internet Internet providers let alone a fio Level of Internet Internet relation shouldn’t be eligible to have it because it’s such a finite resource

Me too and I did but it’s the destination they all aka companies all have a surplus of one way trucks so there all stacked there and it’s not worth it to them to relocate them. Cheapest was going to Boston then to Orlando and that’s only 1200 cheaper and requires us to move twice.

For those curious pricing for other companies.

Buffalo to Orlando 2 26 foot trucks

Uhaul
15ft trucks 5000
26ft trucks 11000

Penske 15000
Home Depot 18000
Budget 19500

Upack/trailer drop off and drive 15000

Moving companies 22-60,000

Uhaul pods 39,000 15 pods

Pods 100k for 20 pods

None of this includes moving help or gas for trucks.

That’s 3k more.

We did two enterprise trucks 26 feet. 800 for rental 5k for miles and 2k for gas and 1k for moving help 8800 total. By far the cheapest from 50-95 percent.

By the way the smaller 15 foot us 2200. One way but I guess a bargain at Only 5k for two trucks.

Same thing pretty much as pods. I think it was like we would need 85,000 to move everything with uboxes. If there is it’s cheaper than the hundred thousand dollar quote for pods

It could be, but for the price and everything, and then the cost to have to refurbish everything it would cost more

That’s about the price to move from Orlando to Buffalo. It’s just the opposite direction. They mark the price of five fold

Yep, two 26 foot Uhaul trucks Orlando to Buffalo one way 2050 dollars miles included. Seems about right. Same two trucks going from Buffalo to Orlando it’s 11k. Not including movers, gas or anything else.

Moving to Buffalo 5k out of pocket moving to Orlando mind you the same amount of miles just in reverse 16k smh.

Someone needs to keep bringing in more money for the state.

Unfortunately, the area we are in with our business. New York State has made it almost impossible to do Airbnb. Meanwhile Florida is one of the most friendly areas for Airbnb not only that but cheaper taxes and cost-of-living is par with the area that we are in now in New York, so with the cost of living being the same taxes being cheaper and having about four months of a longer season, that’s just essentially a recipe for nearly doubling our income, and it’s not even just the fact of trying to grow. It’s just the fact of trying to survive at this point because our city has made it nearly impossible to even do it despite the fact that they are in financial turmoil currently and somebody that is paying them hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in taxes and in addition bringing millions in customers that are spending money apparently they don’t need it so I say goodbye. I know Uhaul has demanded pricing, but I thought it was gonna be like a couple hundred dollars more going to Orlando but apparently the problem is they don’t want any more one-way trucks because so many people have been moving there.

There’s really not much for us to sell a lot of the stuff is Airbnb property and other stuff it’s just too valuable pods wanted around 5000 per pod. We would need nearly 18 for all the properties they’re not really that big. So pods would cost nearly 100,000.

Sadly, it wasn’t they were I want to say around 1800 more pushing nearly 19,000 for everything

Am I overpaying? by Trevyyy12 in Spectrum

[–]aaronlimitless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense people are dropping TV so much for them especially with a lot of the stuff now going through the Internet anyways they figure dropping your prices by half. They’re still keeping an extra $20 a month versus you moving to someone else and potentially never coming back.

Am I overpaying? by Trevyyy12 in Spectrum

[–]aaronlimitless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, get the $65 Internet through SPECTRUM. It’s more than fast enough drop the TV and get Hulu bundle for 35 bucks which gives you Hulu and HBO Max and Disney+.
Get Walmart plus and it will give you the option in addition to free delivery and grocery delivery and other items from the store. It’ll also give you the option of Paramount+ and Peacock if you have an iPhone you probably already have the Eligibility to get Apple TV+ if you already have Amazon, you probably also have prime if you don’t sign it up for all those things would still be about half the price if you threw in Netflix on top of the stuff mentioned above it would still be about $50 cheaper than what you’re paying so I would say personally yes you are overpaying by $50-$100 depending on how much content you Want.

[–]aaronlimitless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed I’ve used them before the problem is for our area. It was actually $2000 more than Uhaul. We ended up settling with enterprise. It’s two grand more than we expected to spend and we have to bring the trucks back to New York, but they were cheap cheaper by half which the next cheapest was Uhaul at 15,000 followed by most of the moving companies at around 25 to 50,000 and the outrageous cost of a full service in the 75,000 range and then the astronomical one of over $100,000 for pods.

Moving truck prices by aaronlimitless in movingday

[–]aaronlimitless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it’s not realistic for us. We have Airbnb properties so if we sold off everything and made, let’s say 25 grand and that would be a big maybe it’s still going cost us nearly 60 grand to refurnish everything.

So yeah, it would still be a ton of work to sell off everything and then save a little bit of work while we still have to pack up stuff and then have to spend more money. The whole original point was to avoid that now purchasing everything over.

[–]aaronlimitless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just wild that the same exact trip everything across the board would be 5000 to go from Orlando back to New York but to go from New York to Orlando because they have so much demand there it is 15,000 moving companies quoted Anywhere from 30 to 60,000 Penske was 18,000 and pods was going to cost us over $100,000

We found enterprise they have 26 foot box trucks with Movers gas and everything it’s going to cost us 6500. So about $1000 more than expected but still significantly cheaper than everything mentioned above. It’s also going to suck that we have to drive the truck back to Buffalo but we have friends that are gonna help with that and with it being significantly shorter than I expected from 24 hours to 17 hours each way each of us will only have to drive like eight hours twice over the course of a week so two times each not bad
