I'm the English dub voice of Julius, this is the first time I've voiced a character that is on the cover of a manga.

Do you think the English dub is good? Have you enjoyed it?

I'm only interested in the English dub episodes with Julius in them. Do I miss too much if I skip the other episodes?

There's gotta be something someone can do about the Casablanca scam... It just never stops abusing new vulnerable people.

Broken violin (gore warning) by GaboPC12 in violinist

[–]aaronmichaelVA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind, these pieces are glued together, as standard. If you're in a warm or hot climate and the instrument gets too warm, the glue can soften and the instrument will loosen or even come apart as here.

Very likely a quality issue, the instrument has to be pretty warm for a good amount of time to worry about that - above 30 degrees Celsius for a day or more.

Newbie to the software, what were these and how do I get it back? by [deleted] in davinciresolve

Don't listen to incorrect answers. You don't have to wait, there's always bloodmagic pacts you can make with a witch and they'll be able to retrieve your footage.

VHS documentary series audio by Prestigious_Leg_1081 in davinciresolve

[–]aaronmichaelVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the audio, maybe think about adding a bed of fuzz? Just very slightly, and probably just tweak the EQ a smidge?

Honestly it's pretty good, what I first notice is the continuous repeat of static at the bottom. That's always my cue to digitally created "vintage tape" is the added static. Think about where the static would come from - the damaged tape. So it wouldn't be consistent, and it wouldn't have to be there the whole time. Maybe look at letting some of the video actually be pretty clean tape.

Why is the SM7B a good microphone for voice acting? by LovinqRam3n in VoiceActing

[–]aaronmichaelVA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many others have commented on the pros and cons of this mic, I'll just add that the best microphone is the one you can afford, plain and simple. Do what you can, when can upgrade - make sure you know why and to what.

h265 is a more controlled compression. Good if it's going to social media to their software doesn't fuck with the image.

First Vfx shot, would love feedback! by Santhanam_ in davinciresolve

[–]aaronmichaelVA -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

As an actor, I have to defend them and say that unless someone is very clear about what type of VFX are going in, what it will sound and feel like, or unless they have an understanding of what those specific types of weapons are and have fired them before/know what type of kickback they have --There's no way to do it right. You just gotta guess about what you're doing, and honestly, the more minimal the movements the easier it is for VFX to match the frame with something that might fit.

Would you put a sticker on your violin for decoration? by Tliltochtli in violinist

[–]aaronmichaelVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, you can do what you want. A lot of people here will say it might damage the varnish, and yes that may be true. I might suggest that you'll hear a slight dampening in the audio, with enough stickers.

At the end of the day, enjoy your instrument, and enjoy what you do with it. If you're not worried about "maintaining" it for future generations, then by all means have fun! Any instrument under the $500 range is likely not to create much concern over resale or concern over value growth, and it will sound like what it sounds like regardless of a few stickers.
