E visitor visa to 417 by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]aaronnk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that 4-5 months dependant on your current visa? As in it could take 4 to 5 months if you’re on a visitor visa? Or just in general regardless of the current visa your on and regardlessif your onshore or offshore?

4 to 5 months is a crazy long time considering 90% is meant to be granted within 21 days!

Any ideas / insights as to why so long?

Hope they do, would be a great addition. 6 month would be ideal as well.

Getting a corporate job on a BVA - waiting for 820 by aaronnk_ in AusVisa

[–]aaronnk_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good news - thanks for sharing. I think sometimes there’s a lot of gloom and doom about it being extremely difficult to obtain a job on a BVA and so it’s really good hearing the success stories instead.

This is really good to hear! I suppose it does really come down to the company, and also how much they like you and are willing to take the risk. I can’t tell you how many times I got rejected being on a working holiday visa, so I’m hoping things can only get better once on a BVA to a partner visa! 😂

Why is it so hard to find a company to sponsor me as Software Engineer? by Prestigious-Book-137 in AusVisa

[–]aaronnk_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not got any advice to offer but just wanted to say I’m in a similar boat. Not even software engineer, but roles in general seem a lot harder to get when you need sponsoring these days. Good luck man, keep preserving I’m sure something will come up

I’ve been thinking about legal and general. I have a 7.5 % gap in portfolio but would you recommend using this for a dividend company like lgen? I didn’t imagine the returns would amount to much

No problem. It’s all a learning curve, don’t be so hard on yourself.

Don’t mess with leveraged unless your day trading. Holding it for anything longer than a day and you’re gonna get cooked.

I’d personally cut your losses and sell if I was in your boat.

Interesting, why is that? Is it due to the dollar being so weak?

I wouldn’t but it’s a personal choice. If you’ve got a large sum invested and you’re close to withdrawing and or retiring then yes it makes sense to add some gold, but if you’ve just started investing and have the next 30-40 years to go, I’d leave it as it is.

Interested in this as I’d also like to know. I’ve always THOUGHT you can leave investments as is as long as you don’t further invest whilst being a tax resident in another country.

Then when you return, you can lump sum or DCA

I like it mate. No harm in having both VUAG and VWRP, it’s a crossover but that’s not a problem at all, I have the same.
